CS 1.6. For better, for worse?

Can someone plz explain the major differences between 1.5 & 1.6 to me? I really can't remember what made 1.5 so damn good... 1.6 is THAT good :p

What I like so much about 1.6 compared with other versions, is that 1.6 feels (to me) so much more like a PROFESSIONAL (sp?) game than the others. It practically oozes with uality for some reason. That's not a bad thing imho.

1.5 and 1.6 are both kinda crap. This is all IMO, of course ;)
I don't mind it, but I don't prefer it.

The older versions had the old hand models, had different running speeds, didn't have the shield, galil and famas.. and.. there are a bunch of differences, really

Read the following in the voice of an old man talking about the "good ol' days":

You young whippersnappers know nothing about fun! The first few betas of CS were the best! In those days we could barely tell friends from enemies, we dropped HL ammo packs, our dropped guns didn't disappear between rounds, after you bought a weapon you had to buy the right ammo to go with that weapon (there were at least 9 ammo types), we ran as fast as in HLDM, the M4 had a small scope (it still had a silencer too) similar to the one on the AUG, we didn't have DE/AS/ES maps... and we liked it!

All these newfangled "improvements" are crap! Counter-Strike keeps getting easier to learn and more balanced. You don't have to read a manual or ask questions throughout the game just to learn how to buy a gun. Now, all the servers are filled with little hooligans that don't know their ass from their elbow... all because those stupid CS developers catered to the "average" player instead of their original hardcore fanbase! Don't even get me started on CS retail. Spending hours upon hours downloading huge mods on 56k modems really weeded out a lot of the stupid people (and if you had a Cable/DSL connection at that time you most likely weren't retarded).

I'd go back to a CS community of under 1,000 players any day! Now, if you see less than 10,000 servers at any given time a large chunk of the Internet must have crashed.

I doubt anyone here cares that you've played since beta 0.x, it doesn't matter, since everyone's opinion, whether a n00b or not, is just as important as yours.

I haven't played since beta

Meh, I suppose I have no choice so I'll just get used to 1.6 *shrugs*

Ns still pwns 1.6 ;)

CS was a great Dad in his day, but now he is repeatedly being shown up as the paedophilic Grandad who wets himself, and is friends with a bunch of miserable old fools.

Yup those are major differences but I only see improvements here :)

You'd have to have been around during the older versions to appreciate why they were better.

I sound like a broken record of all the "old" CS players.. but meh, CS is not the game it once was

hehe
ur post and Cyber's post reminded me of the CS beta days...the scoped + silenced colt.. those were the days.. :cheese:

seriously.. they call em the good ol' days for a reason.. :dork:

compared to current versions the Beta's were bad.

Things change, its life. Adapt or die. Don't winge about how a beta was better cause you could explot bugs that newer players didn't know about.

Listen, if you don't want to go forward that's your problem. I've been playing CS since beta 6 and the game got better with every single update. You don't like 1.6? boohooo hoo. You're not the majority here, deal with it.

I like the new and old versions equally for different reasons.
