I think everyone knows that the way the guns worked in HL differed alot from the CS guns, I especially liked the way CS guns worked. They were much more responsive and effective, for some reason I also had more "fun" using them. They also sounded a hell of alot better.

But my biggest peeve was how freaking SLOW the HL guns were, come on, a 5 year old can fire a pistol faster then that.

Does anyone know if the gun dynamics in CS:S mirror those that will be used in HL2?

This game will be tons better if they fix these problems.

Phew... man i just stepped out of my time capsule from 3 weeks in the future... man! How different the future is!

anyways, yes their much better and generally kickass more

omg don't be all sarcastic.. I was thinking maybe Gabey or Dougy mentioned something about it.

I would think this was one of the peeves most people had, therefore someone had grilled Valve in an FAQ or something.

/Sarcasm off

We really won't know well till we play the game... HL2 will probably be at a slower pace than CS is so who really knows

Just about every weapon is fast in that game because its that sort of game...

I always thought CS weapons were a good rendition of real life weapons, where as HL does a very poor job.

Don't get me wrong, I loved shooting up the baddies in HL, but oh god sometimes did I want an M4 to get the job done better.

Um... I think the latest version of HL with the HD pack has an M4, doesn't it? Or is that an M16?

yeah, the pistol should be true semi-auto; as in you can get out bullets as fast as you can squeeze the trigger for each bullet. they did it for balance I guess in HL1. even though you can't hit shit if you fire more than 2 or 3 as fast as possible, you should be able to do it because real guns can. and clicking a mouse is only a little less work that squeezing a trigger and the gun is going to finish cycling long before you could hit the trigger twice so that's not a problem.

OMG You've really been inte future

Ye i h8 the pistol in HL1, they should let u fire it like the M1A1 Carbine in DoD (if u can click fast enough u can almost make it an automatic). im sure they will b faster in HL2, if not, tough shít :p

EDIT: lol at 'Gabey' or 'Dougey' there summit u not telling us ?

The MP-5 in HL1 felt very weak and the sound wasnt that great too, what ive seen in the HL2 vids it (the similar weapon) looks to be alot better

an mp5 that hold a 50 clip magazine, doesn't even look like an mp5 and takes 25 bullets to kill a grunt? c'mon.... hl has never been serious guns... the only serious thing they got right was maybe the glock and the crowbar....

I'd like to purchase your time machine, aeroripper, for 37 ruples.

See, that's why HL2 was rated 18+; the plastic toyguns were replaced with models of real weapons!

40 ruples here!

And I agree with what some of you are saying, the weapons in HL are a bit weak, altough all explosions (grenade, tripmine, rl) are VERY effective.

Making guns true semi auto in games doesnt really work. You can click a mouse button faster than you can pull a trigger and you can also do it so fast that you can get the guns to fire faster than they could in reality so games have limits. Look at CS when people were making scripts or binding fire to mouse wheel so they could fire the elites as fast as possible. I remember doing it and it was insane.

I dont like CS gun physics though, you have a few shots that are roughly centre, more so for some than others then it just goes insanely random. which makes luck a high deciding factor in battle. The guns dont represent the accuracy over range as the guns do in real life and also the recoil etc to a trained SAS soldier. I mean the recoil from an MP5 or the TMP(if they used them) to them, would be like us firing one of those old potato guns.

The guns in HL2, well the only thing i know is they actually tried or were planning realistic bullet physics and everything but they then went against it as it wasnt really needed for HL2. Its probably just like HL with a few tweaks. I mean HL weapons were fine but HL2 seems abit more realistic so i dont think its gonner be as many bullets to kill a combine over a grunt. HL also had 2 actions for the glock, steady accurate fire and the fast less accurate fire. I thought that was pretty cool it gave you more of a sense of being the character, rather than its you. That was good as you were playing as gordon not as you.
