You should play something called Mix. You get a microphone and join an IRC channel where people search for clan, clans search for people, and people search for mixes. The mix is sort of like getting a bunch of people together to either war against a clan or another mixclan. It's SHITLOADS of fun, and you get to learn some real handy clantactics and it's alot easier than trying out for a normal clan or playing in one since it's not as serious. And most of the really skilled/elite players don't play on public servers, and the general atmosphere on public servers is crap too. They play in clanleagues or play in mixes, a guy I had a chat with got to play against SK in a mixclan once. (He got spanked though)

This is assuming the term of mixes and such has reached other countries than sweden, if it hasn't then I don't know what you should do. Try learning some tactics and go search for a good clan, maybe.

Edit: Oh, and the microphone is used for Ventrilo chatting, not ingame stuff. when you search for mix and a person tells you the ventrilo-IP, join that one.

This is what has happened for me in Opposing Force, for the past 2 years, I've been bored no real challenge comes around to me...I just get bored and move onto a different game usually.

My suggestion, go to another game for a week or 2, then doom3 comes out and just play that

i stopped playing CS due to the insane amount of cheaters. All the more frustrating when u accuse them they figure that by getting their friend to say "he's not cheating, he's really good" it makes their defense more credible.

Most of you have no idea the level of competition in CAL(www.caleague.com) at the

higher levels. I know how great some of you think you are and that you are "just too

good" for the game nowadays. Your score in public servers means absolutely nothing

in terms of your skill let's just keep it at that. There is a whole side of Counter-Strike

that most people know very little about. Sorry for the rant but I have to stick up for

the competitive gaming scene that I used to be a part of, the only reason I left is

because of the extreme level of immaturity and arrogance by most of the players.

You guys keep saying to go join a clan/league, but that's just the problem with cs. These numbers are estimated/made up, but you'll get my point.

60% of all cs players suck. They play because "OMG teh CTs SuxXx! I will RoxXxorZZ you!!".

another 20% of cs players are incredibly good. You know, the guy who while falling off a building will headshot you with his pistol from across the map. These people are either gifted (congratulations!) or complete losers who sold their soul to CS.

The last 10% are people like me. People of average skill level. You do fairly well most games, sometimes you'll suck, bu overall, pretty well. When faced by seasoned CS vets (a.k.a. losers with no life) you die horribly.

That's why I quit after a while, people were either far worse or far better than I. Which made winning/doing well either incredibly easy or incredibly difficult.

If fewer poor-skilled players played. The distribution would hopefully turn to something more like 30% 40% 30%, and you know what, I could stand that.

I honestly believe you're meshing hackers and skilled players together.
CS has more "hackers?" No, not when I play. There are more generally skilled players than CZ, simply because there are about 10x the amount of players on CS.

I haven't come across a blatant cheater in ages.. every time I hear of an accusation when I play, it's usually just a skilled player.

Anyways, Shuzer is right almost all of the time people think someone is hacking they arn't, and when i see comments like "look how good his aim is" that just really disheartens me. It is PAINFULLY obvious to watch a cheater using aimbot, if you have seen it you know exactly what to expect. The real problem is the wallhackers, you really can't detect it unless they are blatantly shooting random walls and getting headshots. Regardless people really need to give others the benefit of the doubt before crying out hacker, everyone needs to realize there are people much better than you and there always will be. Also you wouldn't believe the kinds of different spam spots there are on maps that people just spray to try to get that lucky headshot through the wall, someone killing you through the wall in no way means they are hacking. Probably the biggest exploit of all those all-star players you see out there is having their headphones blasting the sound so they can hear people halfway across the map, and yes you really can. Now I'm not sticking up for the majority of cs players though because I simply hate most of them, but it's important the recognize the difference between skill and hacks.

CS just got to boring for me. I believe after version 1.0 i stopped playing until it came out on steam which was 1.6 i think. I just got tired of the game, mainly because of so many new players coming in, hackers, newbs (can't stand them) and the gameplay. For all you veterans, remember the times in betas' 3-5, even 6 was pretty good and then beta 7 with jeepathon2k...tons of fun. The majority of my fun where i would seriously stay up until 4am sometimes were maps like cs_facility (007 n64 map), cs_ship, cs_milita, and my favorite cs_mansion. What memorable times. I hope CS:S can pull some of this off for me although being into gaming my whole life especially the past 5 years i will most likely get tired of CS:S within months.
