CS map loading

When I join a server it takes a very long time, and when the map changes I'm ALWAYS the last in, so late that I often miss the first round.

What can I do about it?
I think it's been like this from the start so a reinstall probably won't do it...

My PC isn't all that bad and my internet connection is ok.

ok if we are gonna be able to help you we are going to need the specs ie how much ram, processor and what connection do you have your gonna have to specific if your gonna get help

well there are a few minor tweaks you can do for map loading but it dont make a big diff the server you are trying to connect to could be far away

Could be your connecting to far away servers, or your computer is just bad. How much ram do you have? There is a command (-heapsize) to help this problem, but the value depends on your ram.

My machine suffers from the same problem, even though I have a 1MBit line, and 1024 MB of Ram . I always though it was because I was behind a firewall. Does the heapsize change automatically depending on memory available? Thanks.
