CS:S matrix style

Here's one for you, I've trawled through this board and cant find it so here goes.

I have a Rock laptop with an amd 64 3400, ati radeon 9800 pro mobile 256, and CS:S ran amazing, until I installed windows xp 64... the game is perfect other than one thing..... the gameplay runs at twice the speed!! Even in game servers, I'm twice as fast as everyone else... I keep gettin kicked from servers because of this lol it's like I have a speed hack on, I hate game hacks. Anyone got any ideas on how to remedie this? I've emailed steam but heard nothing back, this was about 2 weeks ago. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Now this is... special. Not to mention hilarious.

You should try turning on v-sync, which synchronizes your frames per second to the refresh rate of your screen (XX(X) Hz). Either that's the problem, or you don't send enough information packets to the server (kinda like lag), which is a known cheating method (except you're not a cheater :/).

lololol I can't see how your PC running fast would enable you to be 2 times faster than other players.

That is weird. I would wait to hear back from steam/valve... I suspect (if you haven't "accidentally" installed hacks ) that the 64 bit proccessing is doing something strange to the engine.

Lol thanks for the tip about the vsync, I'll try that tonight. I was really shocked when I played it with bots... it's near impossible lol it's the same with the new Battlefield 2 demo, everything is too fast lol

Maybe when hl2 engine loads it takes the 64 bit processor as 2 processors instead of one thus maybe making the game run twice as fast that must be fuked up man funny but fuked up you should report this directly to valve !!!

well after much info seeking and forum posting I finally found out the problem

It's got something to do with AMD Quiet and cool option.. it needs turning off for me to run my games at normal speed lol

so there you have it, if your game runs like you're a cheat, then turn quiet and cool off.

Goin to find some speed hacks now :naughty: lol

isn't his cpu, I have the exact same one with an x800, I also game with cool and quiet on and haven't had any issues, least of all the one reported here.

If your really concerned maybe try reinstalling CS source

No really I have heard about this before on these forums before, however I cant find it again.

Smigit it could be because your not running windows 64 ed..............................

or it could be any number of other things including that, and despite what I said it could be his hardware since hell have a diff driver/hardware/software setup. I shouldnt have jumped to that.

In any event I'd try reinstalling CS to be 100% sure you dont have anything suss there, if they activate VAC2 and they find something suss you wont be able to plead ignorance when you are banned. Best to be safe, even if you personally didn't install anything.

I've done this in HL2DM at one time..I'd lag really bad but be flying through the air (literally) like in gasworks, from the tower with the RPG to the other side of the map..just flying
I got banned so quickly. Then continued doing it in other servers. Reinstall fixed it for me But totally different problems

when you get rid of css and reinstall delete the folder in c drive because if you dont you really arent reinstalling css
