Over on steampowered.com (sorry!) some of us have thrown together some concepts for the scoreboard and how it could be improved. It barely got a lookin at an overhaul like most of the game did so we've put our suggestions forward.

My concepts in order or progression, with latest first and original last:

Feedback would be nice, got some great comments over on the other forums so would like to see what you guys thought over here!

Cheers

I like the rounded edges, but not the drop shadow, and make the spec window bigger, but I like it otherwise.

Definitely like yours over the official one. I hate having to scroll down to see all the people in a large server.

There's room for 32 player names per team on that one (i've checked)

drop shadow wouldn't be shown ingame, was just to make it look a little nicer in concept :)

any change suggestions?

i dont even know how to scroll down to see all the people

It seems to be disabled in CS:S for some reason. You just used the scroll wheel in 1.6.

yeah, they should split the scoreboard into teams columns so more people will fit >=[

I like the first one too....though.... I'd like to see a ravenshield style scoreboard where it tells you how many bullets shot, # bullets hit, % of hit, and # of Kills....and who you were killed by...

check the console, it gives you this info:)
EDIT well some of it- who it you and who you hit, damage given and taken and in how many hits.

Yeah, I know. It's cool how it's in the console, but I'd like it on the scoreboard....maybe I can mod it...

in the pic it shows me...

going from left to right

Name-Kills-Deaths-Shot %-Bullets Fired-Bullets Hit-(blank area shows who killed you in MP)-Ping

Very nice, much better IMHO. Only thing that you could add would be time connected but thats just for the hell of it and would eat up space lol.

Guess it's just a personal preference thing, I personally like my scoreboard relatively uncluttered and don't mind popping into the console to have a gander -it gives me something to do everytime I die:) plus I'm usually already in the console trying to get my rates right(!) grrrr

WOW! Great job on the board. Really wish they would change it like that. Looks great. Much more well organized. Have to sent this to VALVe? Or made a petition or something? You have my signature. Nice.

It's just a CS:S screenshot but with some Fireworks gfx slapped over it :)

Working on some new designs, see what i can come up with

Hmm I agree there needs to be a new scoreboard and a new in-game font, but I don't really like the rounded edges :)

the red and blue is a bit weird.. i prefer the normal ct/t colors

#1 Why would you have spectators that low down (requires scrolling) when you have so much wasted space?

Otherwise brilliant concept.

#above - SEXELLENT

Wow yeah dude j make one like yours with tabs like that. That'll be PERFECT!
nice idea with the nextmap info too.

You mind if i have a go with your concept pixartist?

See what i can come up with

I would like to see something like this.... but you will all probably hate it :(

i like the these concept scoreboards.. they look nice and will be able to fit many players in there without having to scroll down but still having the option to scroll down if needed.

so have these been forwarded to Valve?

Not forwarded no, just hoping they took a look really..

got a couple more ideas on the way, wait in :)

Actually I like yours as well, even though the font doesn't "match" with the rest ;)

Ya, true... maybe the should use the CS font or the one they used with the "Source" text

I like the concepts, hope valve implements something similar.

One thing I'd like to add is that on pub servers, a score vs deaths ratio is stupid. It punishes the ratio of players who are more agressive/offensive and die more often round, and rewards those who sit back in the corner waiting for some unlucky sob to appear in front of their sights. Consider two players, one who acts as pointman and kills two enemies each round, but also dies each round. The other who quivers behind a box and kills one enemy each round, but only dies every third round. After 30 rounds, the agressive guy's K : D ratio is 60:30, while the coward's ratio is 30:10. The agressive guy is obviously a better asset to his team, shouldn't he have a higher ratio?

The ratio people should be comparing is Score vs. ROUNDS PLAYED, not Deaths. After playing one map for 90 minutes I'm usually at the top of the scoreboard, but that doesn't mean I'm the best player on the server, it just means I'm the best player who has actually been on the server for the whole map, all 40 rounds or whatever. Score vs Rounds shows how often a player is getting kills, which is their overall effectiveness. Score vs Deaths doesn't tell you anything about how often the player is getting kills, and it punishes you for sticking your neck out and trying to actually play the game.
