So, to be clear, the answer is stand-alone. You won't need to buy regular CS to play CSS.

and to be extra clear on this subject ill explain it like so:

CS = a banana

CS:S = a watermelon

you don't need to buy a banana, to get a watermelon. you just go and get that watermelon and check out.

so in summary, hmm i want to eat a watermelon. ok i goto the store. the produce lady says heydo you want a banana? i say, what?? i don't need a banana to get the water melon! and she says, you're right, sir, you're damn right! no banana needed for a watermelon! and then i get the watermelon and i pay for it and eat it. do you understand?!!?
