But you still need a pretty large upgrade to play - doing it now.
 
Yeah, dumb to release it, and release a large update at the same time.

lel, but i'm not complaining too much. It'll be fun. :)

Everyting kinda went dead for a few minutes while it was updating.
 
Sucked I thought I would have about 30 minutes play before I had to go to work, now the update should finish right about when I have to leave :S Joy
 
Ack, downloaded the update in no time, tried to run it, didn't work. Noticed that it was downloading another update in the background, at 75% going at a whopping 1.7kbps.
 
The download speed is a bit touch and go at the moment.
Hard to tell how it's going.

Hehe, I think they finally switched to kilobytes per second instead of kilobits per second.

The bandwidth available thing has been a bit touch and go for a while as well.
 
i got the upgrade but the game wont work for me. it lockes up my computer when i try to join a server
 
Same no update and the server is too busy...guess they are really being cained :/

Edit: Seems they have taken the forums offline to ease the server load :p
 
And just to say it was probably the worst idea to release a 60meg update on the same day beta goes live.... :flame:

this sucks if i click on anything execpt options the game freezes and i have to restart
 
1-64% in 1 minute
64% - 80% 19 mins
80% -90% 9 minutes

stilll updating

just because it says its ready to play its not right click on the game and check your on 100%
 
I can still play CZ with no more lag than usual. So obviously not everything is down. Something must be working.

and on a side note, dear GOD are we slamming Steam hard, look at the status page, we've about maxed out the bandwidth.

Still getting 1.2 Mb/sec though. :D
 
Since it wont' let me update the beta, I am loading the dedicatd server instead. I don't plan on using it, but... it works? I like seeing things that work.
I suppose we should congradulate them on all of steam not crashing apart, you can still do other things, just not what we all want to do right now.
 
I preloaded Cs:S on a 56k.. what 300megs is nothing(For me at least).
Just leave it on overnight for 2 nights (considering u sleep around 6-7 hours) (Do it while your sleeping), make sure u get 5.0+ kb/s speed and your good.
 
Steam does the "monitor" speed in kilobits still, so 100 kb/s is 12.5 kiloBYTES/s. That's an iffy figure, but understandable with everyone trying to play it. I believe they released the patch to test bandwith.
 
Hmm. downloaded it, got the updates, I can run it, I can run local server, I can run stress test, but It seems to get stuck at sending client info when connecting to a server.
