CTs camping a dropped bomb

If you're a CT and you've shot the bomber, bomb is on the ground, no other Ts around, is it OK to take cover and camp, and pick the Ts off as they come to get it?

I've seen people get flamed for doing it, though it makes sense to me for a few reasons.

- It makes tactical sense if you're a CT, especially if you're largely outnumbered by the remaining Ts.
- The Ts job is to get the bomb to the site and plant it. If they let the bomber get isolated and killed, that's a mistake on their part. They shouldn't start complaining about CTs who take advantage of their error.
- When the Ts plant the bomb, they camp and defend it. Makes it very hard for the CTs to get in and defuse. So why shouldn't the CTs take the opportunity to do the same when they can?

And it's not like you're camping somewhere to avoid being killed, on the off-chance a T will go running past. You know they have to come - they can't win without getting either the bomb or you.

I know everyone's going to have different views on this, just curious.

yes its a perfectly reasonable, tactical and score increasing decision to make
although it does slow up the game play......

Yeah, I'm guilty of complaining about this behavior, but only because I'm an impatient bastard ;)

I think its totally acceptable. Awhile ago, I wrote a post about techniques that Ts should use when bomb running. One of my points was that if the T bomb runner gets killed, and the bomb is on the ground, that often can help out the CTs. Now instead of two bomb sites to try to guard, they only need to guard one bomb.

So, I'm all for it.

Now having said that, I have to say that the other day, I got embarrassed because I did something stupid. I killed the bomb runner and was camping the bomb. But then I decided to move a ways away from the bomb down a hallway and around a corner to see what some of the action was. I then came back about 30 seconds later to find the bomb gone. The last two remaining Ts had picked up the bomb and had planted it, and got the detanation. My dead teammates started yelling at me about leaving the bomb. Needless to say, I felt a bit bad about that.

its a tactic...therefore people dont like it because they just want to play again! - nobody seems to like using tactics.even when the bomb is planted, people seem to run off in various directions.

I blame it on the fact that to look like a good player, you have to rack up kills. so everyone just goes deathmatch on it in order to increase stats. If anyone here has played Tribes:Vengeance i think the stats there is done well.

Aye totally reasonable. Just tell the flamers to go f**ck themselves because are so tactically challenged they can't even run round a corner without getting shot in the face.

Acceptbale-yes, good tactics-yes, but not always the most fun, i dont know about everybody else but when you are dead watchign ur last remaining guy it can get very bOring watchign him camp for a minute ortwo waiting, (im talking about public servers) . And i dont find much fun in camping anyways, i just wanna nice firefight :) .
When i am playing in pub servers its not all about the best score or if your team wins every round, its about having some fun.
It doesn't bother me too much but nobody likes watching camping and although other ppl may enjoy caming i don't and would only do it in a match.
If it is a match situation this is perfectly acceptable and do it as much as you want. and im sure your team wont be fussed watching you camp if you win the round.

Since counter strike begun, up to modern day cs, people have camped dropped bombs, still happens in 1.6 and Source apparently, its a good tactic, in good games, terrorists are always weary of picking up the bomb as cts are usually close by, and it makes a noise went its picked up, so go ahead, ignore those who complain, they are just new to the game and don't know how to play properly.

I keep using that same tactic all the time. If I'm flamed about it, then they should think again. I fully agree with this thread that using this tactic isn't noobish. It's wise, easier and more tactical sollution, so there!

hahahahaha it seems asthough when YOU are the one playing no matter what you do game play goes by fast, but when ur spectating someone it goes soooo slow. Haha i'm guilty of getting angry of people who do stuff like that, but it's good tactics! i just hate people who camp in one spot the entire game and NO one can see them and they manage to kill the entire team, that sux

if people want to complain about people camping objectives then they should go play deathmatch

Totally understandable. A normal tactic that if a CT on my team didn't do, I'd yell at him. It's dumb not to, but you look like such a jackass if you have a perfect camping spot and die to a rushing T. Especially if you have near perfect health.
