Custom Gaming System..

Okay I want to buy a system to play hl2 and cs source on. Probably the only reason for it! haha.. anyways. I want to know what is the best system I could get for a 1,000 or a little above.

I'm thinking a AMD 64 4000+, the rest I need help on.

I want to run the game at 1600 | 1200 full or atleast 1280 | 1024.. can someone help me make a system for a good price?

$1000? I think a 4000 is a little too much, then. That alone costs about $360 (I know because I'm getting one; all the parts together cost a little over $2000). a 3200 to 3400 would probably do you just fine if around $1000 is your price range.

I put together the one in my sig last year for around 1500, perhaps a hare more, same stuff now would be cheaper, I can play hl2 and doom 3, far cry just fine.

Something like that would be good, a 3500 AMD, a gig of RAM (Corsair I think is good for a gig), descent graphics card, you're set. Don't neglect the power supply, and choose a case with good airflow. Look at me, I'm giving someone slight assistance with building a computer! I didn't know crap before I created my thread Anyway, go look at some processors and RAM. Linkies.

Edit: Oh, are you buying from newegg.com? Highly recommended by me.

you can get an AMD 64 4000+ plus a good gpu for around 1100 at www.cyberpowerpc.com

if you decide to go with a p4 for some reason www.ibuypower.com has good deals on p4 systems
