I thought of sharing this map i made kinda shows how to make a elevator whit ropes holding it up , u can even make ropes break on trigger .

Well I tried it out and it works fine, plus you can examine how it works, very nice. And guys the elevator in the pic has broken ropes because he said "u can even make ropes break on trigger "
 
i made a couple of updates to the map and added sum extra stuff to it .

Thanks for this crasher, helped me undestand more about lifts and constraints ect.
 
sorry to bump an older post but I was wondering if this should work with Counter-Strike:Source? Ive downloaded this map and loaded it up in Hammer and I have no problems checking out how everything is put together. But, if I compile it and run it it doesnt work in CS:S.
 
nice , think u gota redo sum parts like the info_player_start to play it on and then i dunno how the enitis work whit
counter-strike: source

BTW, does your elevator stay stable if you ride in it or does it want to move with the character?
 
Ha.... bumping an olde 2 year thread to get that map can seem odd.

its 4 ropes and 4 lenghtconstraints. All parented/tied to the physics thing. and something else... I think you can replicate it easily.
