custom maps

loads of room in this game for custom maps and i think this is what will give it its life span.
How long do you think it will be before we see custom maps and if so do you think its a good idea to open a dedicated section in the forum to them a bit like the bonus section in the menu were people can compare times/portal counts for each. as i think that would be something that worked really well with this type of format. what do you guys think?

There's some already available. However, as with all "rush to be the first to release a map lol" releases, they're inevitably shite. Some good ones will no doubt appear over the coming weeks.

We'll probably need to wait for the SDK Portal update... or is that already out?

SDK update is preferable yes.
There's some community sites out there *cough* but I guess we'll have to wait about a month before the mapping community of Portal starts kicking.
