fter catching his 15-year-old smoking pot, a father sold the hard-to-get "Guitar Hero III" video game he bought his son for 90 dollars for Christmas at an online auction, fetching 9,000 dollars.

The sale took place after the father spent two weeks searching for the video game for the Nintendo Wii gameboard.

"So I was so relieved in that I had finally got the Holy Grail of Christmas presents pretty much just in the nick of time. I couldn't wait to spread the jubilance to my son," the father wrote on the eBay website.

"Then, yesterday, I came home from work early and what do I find? My innocent little boy smoking pot in the back yard with two of his delinquent friends."

The man, a school teacher, who kept his identity private, said he sold the coveted video game to punish his son and discourage him from smoking dope.

The sale was a boon for the family's bank account, since the game the father purchased for 90 dollars (US) was finally sold to an Australian who plunked down 9,100 dollars for it.

The naughty son, however, will not go without a present on Christmas.

"I am still considering getting him a game for his Nintendo. Maybe something like Barbie as the Island Princess or Dancing with the Stars ... I know he will just love them," the father said, tongue-in-cheek.

I dont know what's the bigger story here; the fact that the father in question is a anal-retentive prude or that some idiot paid over $9000 for a game ..especially since it will be substantially cheaper than $9000 is january

Don't you know Rock and Roll is devil music?

Luckily the boys father caught it in time, before the kid was forever damaged by the evil video games.

His son just gained him $9000, he should be thanking the brain-fried little shit.

9k???????

dammit, I really have to start taking advantrage of these holiday wackos

****! I added an extra 0 accidentally!

i dont get it....who the frig pays 9k for that....even if they are obscenely rich, its still ridiculous

I don't believe stories like this. I cannot understand how anybody on this planet would pay $9000 for a $90 video game that is just entering production .

Sounds like to me that the kid is in charge of the budget, and in charge of the family.

Why would anyone pay that much for a game? COuldn't he just buy it in the store?

$9000??? :O

Also, since it's an eBay auction, it means that there were many idiots willing to pay thousands for the game.

... or that some idiot paid over $9000 for a game ..especially since it will be substantially cheaper than $9000 is january
True. But you know, by the time January comes around it would be meaningless to buy the game, especially as a present. Who the hell would want a present when it's not christmas or a birthday or valentine's day. I know I wouldn't and if someone would rather wait and pay $50 for a video game instead of $9000 for the same game as a present to me. It tells me they don't love me.

so if someone gave you this, you'd say "no thanks, I want it now, or nothing"?

Nintendo Co Ltd. said Friday it will offer a ?rain check? program to deliver the Wii in January to shoppers who can't buy the game console during the holiday season due to inventory shortages.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime told a telephone news conference that shoppers who pay the full price of about $249 for an out-of-stock Wii on Dec. 20 and 21 at retailer GameStop Corp will get a certificate promising a Wii ?some time in January.?

ps: if you do get one of these certificates pass it my way, I can wait till january

I'd heard about this earlier on the screwttack.com podcast. Funny stuff

Well I wasn't being serious, I thought I was just reflecting the attitude of people in general during the holidays.

Personally I do absolutely nothing for christmas or any other holiday. If I have a friend or family member that needs or wants something, I'll get it for them anytime of the year. Or if I see something while I'm out and think they will like it, I'll get it and surprise them.

The kid will keep smokin weed anyways, just not in the backyard anymore.

The father should spend the cash on pure LSD/Columbian crack-cocaine and make his son smoke that shit up.

That would be my antidrug. That would teach the little ****er.

some idiot paid over $9000 for a game

By that alone I don't think it's real.

Memes aren't usually understood; more accepted than anything.

What ever happened to a good old fashioned beating-senseless?

Yeah, what's up with that anal-retentive prude, totally abusing his right to raise his son the way he wants and discouraging the use of illegal drugs. What is he thinking. And oh the humanity, he sold his new video game!! My god, somebody call child support! I don't think I could live through that!

There probably really isn't even a real son involved, this smacks of ebay stunt to me.

Regardless, yeah, I guess the father has a right to be an ass on xmas...

Wow, the fact that someone has that kind of money, whats more that kind of money too spend on a game astounds me.

all those with parenting experience please raise their hand ...

I'm not expecting someone who himself is barely out of his childhood to understand how to be an effective parent. Opening up his son to ridicule is not the way to prevent him from smoking pot, he's just addressing the fact that he caught his son smoking not the underlying issues of smoking pot and why it's seemingly wrong ..his method of discipline does nothing except reinforce the idea that next time the son should hide it better

but you go right ahead and throw in your two cents without having a shred of insight into what it takes to raise a child because this is the internets and you cant swing a cat without hitting an ignorant misinformed opinion
