The smiling, ethnically diverse family featured on the cover of Toronto's latest edition of its summer Fun Guide was digitally altered to make the photo more "inclusive," which city officials say is in keeping with a policy to reflect diversity.

A spokesman for the department that publishes the guide listing recreation activities confirmed the publication was doctored to insert the face of a different father.

lol. Why not just arrange for another photo shoot... or a photo shoot to begin with.
 
pretty sure the original was a stock photo. I bet the editor at the last minute said something along the lines of "we need someone more ethnic" and they shopped it in before sending it to the printers.

I don't know about that, but the black guy does really seem to be in to that white girl. I guess they were trying to make it more realistic.
 
if they had wanted it to be more realistic they would have made the children different races :O
 
They shoulda just sent a photographer to a university campus. Plenty ethnic diversity there.

this statement makes no sense due to the fact that this is Toronto, the most ethnically diverse city in the world. university really is ethnically diverse. so your attempt at a racist joke falls flat
 
Well, that is positively ridiculous. Not simply that such a laughable photoshop attempt was made, but that they felt compelled to do this - that they actually had to 'rectify' the image.

this is toronto, you cant swing a cat without hitting a visible minority. I'm surprised they didnt make the woman a gay asian man to be honest
 
It makes a lot of sense however the execution fails miserably. Canada pushes the whole multicultural thing quite a bit so it would make sense to have that portrayed on the cover , going all cheap and using stock photos however ... not such a good idea for something as important as a front cover.

I bet the black guy works at the company that made that cover. he may even be the designer. the original photo is stock but the photoshopped pick looks too stupid to be a stock photo

ok they're mostly asian and a few token white guys but I distinctly saw one in designer school ..he might have been casing the joint out so I dont know ...

I don't know why, but the black guy reminded me of Will Smith.
 
Sadly this isn't as uncommon as people would think. I had to 'shop african / asian faces into all caucasian stock images on several occasions for the design company I used to work for.

At least I didn't leave any seams.
 
Jesus, that added black guy looks creppy. Probably due to the shitty 'shop.
 
The kid in the middle is screaming because he's watching his dad turn into a random black guy. The other one is left simply in awe that he just witnessed it.

You should have seen the Comedy Central Roast of 'Captain Kirk'. (probably on youtube) Sulu was absolutely flaming.
 
I looked at the black guy, and I thought they should have left it alone to begin with. The neck is gross and the expression is not one I want my children to be around.

Stern, you have a family. Would you want your kids around a man with that expression? Even if you were black?
