So I watched back to the future for the first time last night (I know right?)
I was struck by the scene at the dance when Marty starts playing the guitar and all the kids dancing start swing dancing (I think?) to the music. It was really cool. And then it hit me: WTF happened to actual dancing?
Been to clubs, all they have there is the stupid bump and grind, which while very entertaining when you're doing it with a hot girl, requires almost no skill to perform on an acceptable level. Never went to a prom in high school (ah the joys of homeschooling) but from what I've seen, bump and grind is the only kind of dance being performed.
What happened to dances like swing dancing, etc. that require actual skill and time to learn?
How the hell has this sex-with-your-clothes-on not only become an acceptable dance, but also the only dance currently performed?
Left a club once, a friend asked me how was the girl I was dancing with...and I thought to myself, I wasn't dancing with her, I was ****ing her with clothes in the way... and I know that's pretty much the point, but seriously, sometime I'd like to actually dance...
Anyway, that's just my rant. I'm 20 and sounding like an old geezer. I'll STFU now.
