This sucks I just got l4d and didn't bother looking at the minimum requirements asking for a Radeon 9600 rather than a 9200. I just assumed it would work for me considering everything else by valve works perfectly for me. Now all I get is a black screen when I load it up.

So I went to the steam forums and supposedly people are saying that you can make it work on a 9200. WTF? Suggestions? Help?

I appreciate that alot ACiD but unfortunately, from looking at the forums it seems I was wrong and the 9200 series cant do it since it doesnt support Dx 9 or the specific shaders. Damnit.

Yeah, it's a shame, if you were living in Poliand I would send you my ATI 9550.

*moves to poland.:cheese:
I'm checking out ebay..they got a few 9600's for less than a hundred bucks, so I guess I'll just grab one of those within acouple of weeks.

Yea I saw a few for around 60 so I think I might grab one of those :D thanks.

I'd suggest getting a new PC altogether man :D Even if you got yourself 2GB RAM, a cheapish motherboard, a decent C2D & 8800GT (these are mega cheap now, and IMO offer extremely good value), you'd actually be easily sorted for every demanding game that's currently out.

L4D looks SWEET maxed out btw, all you've got to do is look at Francis's badass tattoos up close and you know the game is a winner, graphics wise.

I have an old 9800 Pro do you have an AGP port?

heh well yes but don't sweat it, I've just bought a 9800 XT off an electronics store at ebay.

Alright well I'll be back in Texas 2nd week of March if the 9800 doesn't meet your needs I'll let my x800 Pro go for almost nothing :)

I remember when I had an 9600XT, upgraded to the x800 GTO.....I went down in performance. I was sad.

I had the same thing happen to me, only I went from a 9600 XT to a x850 XTPE. My performance gain was negligible (like 3 or 4 fps or something) and I think I spent like 600 bucks on it. Still makes me cringe when I think how much money I threw away.

Weird I saw a big performance increase when I bought my x800 Pro... what manufacturer did you get? I stick with PowerColor and have never been disappointed.

more shader features are being used when you upgraded. unless you had a bottleneck of some sort? cpu/resolution?

Sapphire. It was also the GTO, though, so it was a POS. Lucky for me it was only $150 when I got it.
