So, I was home the other day and I bumped into my cousin as I was coming out of my sister's house, hes just turned 20 and im 21 so we were just having the usual catchup chat.

He then came out with the whole 'hows it with the ladies' talk, and I found out that hes currently seeing someone 'in her 30s'...to which I just looked at him and said 'what the ***k bru?'

Now, am I just being arrogant thinking that its wrong? Well...not wrong, but just..I dunno..WEIRD?

Ive always had a strong opinion about age gaps, like 16 year old girls dating/shagging 22 year old guys, I think 5 years or more is seriously weird in terms of an age gap.

But do you think its different with a woman thats older by, say, 10 years or so? I mean, shes probably reached most of her aspirations etc and KNOWS what she wants, has the experience etc and you can learn from her...but isnt it just a bit weird???

I cant imagine how awkward it would be sitting down over drinks or lunch or something talking to someone 10 years older than you whos probably sat there thinking 'this is like dating my own kid'.

What you're doing with your life has far more bearing on compatibility than your age. If you're still at uni then maybe you just aren't used to socialising with people in their 30s, and don't realise that until the whole marriage and family thing sets in, they're not a whole lot different.
I've worked with women 10 years older than me, doing the same job for the same money and in a similar position in life doing similar things for fun. Generally have a lot more in common with them than university students the same age as me.
It's who you are and your shared reality that counts, which just so happens to correspond with your age sometimes.

This brings up a funny MSN convo I had with Pitz a couple of months ago. When I was in high school, as a senior, one of the sophmores wanted to date me. She was just smoking hot but I was 18 and leaving high school, entering college. She was just 16. So when I came back to check-up on my old teachers, she asked to go out with me. This time she was 17 and a senior and I was 20, junior in college. I told no again while thinking "****, I wish I could say yes without Chris Hanson showing up". Past puberty I don't think a 5yr or 10 yr age gap (above your age) is at all weird imo, especially when your in your mid 20's (like me), male or female . I have friends in their 40's & some have kids but I relate to them as well as all my friends, a committed sexual relationship might be strange, but not really the sex part imo. Everybody's different though & differ on what they want from a sexual relationship. I think you have to judge couple by couple, person by person. Age for most people effects money, pregnancy, home ownership, jobs, travel, & as loving adults you need to try & find agreement on what you want regarding these subjects. Couples can find agreement about these things & be happy & have an age gap of 10yrs imo.

I think there are a lot of guy's in their early 20's & women in their early 30's who would hit it off, intimately & generally. & the other way around too. Granted, it would be awkward if this happened & it certainly could. But this would(should) only happen if maturity & a conflict of interests come into play, & it's not a given this problem will occur.

On a side note, I fail to see how being 17 but looking 15 is a detriment. Hell, that's like a universal sexual dream, to do a high school chick and dodge the guilt.

It all depends on how well-maintained they are. Because I don't want me a rusty bike friend. Some of the retro models are pretty cute, and I hear they really put out.
