david blaine is a smart man

The simple fact of the matter is, after 44 days without any food your stomach would be digesting itself, you would have used up all your fat reserves and when that happens the body starts to break down the muscle. After approximately the 2 and a half week mark, he will be in extreme pain, hardly able to move. If he does manage it, he will need at least a month in hospital to recuperate the lost body mass.

This is of course provided that it's real.

St. Lydwine ate no food for 19 years other than the Holy Eucharist. As far as the human body is concerned what you said is true. There are other factors however. The physical body is but one part of our complete makeup. I dont mean magick, as far as i know Blaine isnt claiming that this will be done by magick anyway. Im talking about complete control of the body through the mind and will. Mental control over the physical body is a very powerfull tool in instances like this.

Apparently the people arranging it wont let anyone else have samples of the water they're giving him - probably because its full of vitamins and food supplements :)

Thats what i think is going on.

Drips are clear like water, yet they can sustain people in hospital for a long time. All they have to do is give him a drip-style concoxtion and he'll probably start to lose weight anyway. Then the acting skills of David Blaine will come into play in 44 days time

"ow mummy my tummy hurts, do i have to go to school today?"
