Still not sure whether you will like Day of Defeat: Source, so you’re holding back on buying the game? Or are you just a poor sob who doesn‘t have enough money to even afford food? Well I have some great news for you! You can save a bunch -- Erm, actually, you can tryout Day of Defeat: Source for free this weekend, February 10-12!
This weekend Valve is inviting everyone to try Day of Defeat: Source for free via Steam. Visit Steampowered.com to pre-load the game and be set to play at 12:00 pm (noon) PST on Friday, when the Free Weekend begins. Join the ranks as Axis or Allies troops located in Western Europe during the height of the war in 1944.
Well, when you do see the light and you want Day of Defeat: Source to be a part of your family, lynching for money off of your friends isn‘t the best idea to pay for the game. It won’t end well.[br]<center>

Cool, I already have it but it will give the people who want a "demo" before they buy a chance to play the game. A smart move by valve

Three days doesn't sound like a lot of time. But, it probably is an awesome game.

ArenaNet did this with Guild Wars, beta weekends before the game was finished. I have to say they worked very well. Give them a little taste and boom they are hooked. However I really doubt that it will work so well for a fps game. I already have the game. I don't play it because I don't like it.

What the hell does lynching money mean?

honestly, what the hell is wrong with you?

3 days is certainly long enough to make up your mind if you want it or not. I already own it, so I won't need to be downloading anything. :p

I think anyone that doesn't own it and has a decent connection should at the most try it out, you don't have to buy it. But damn its pretty fun to play. :D

I think this is a pretty clever idea. Hopefully they'll hook plenty of people, thus furthering their plans for world domination! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

alright! am gonna be playing for 72+ hours straight! *calls up ambulance in advance* lol j/k

Cool stuff. Very cool promotion. Ill be buying it when it hits retail so this doesnt really effect me.

Cool way to demo, what a rush it'll be; 72 straight hours of MG fodder.

I think this is a great idea by valve. It's gonna hopefully get more people to buy the game and appreciate it.

Should be good fun, always wanted to try DODS.

Cool ! I loved dod1, havent had the chance to get dod:s but i will most definatly flay this mod this weekend! :D
Good move by Valve btw..

For me it all depends on the size of the game. Anyone know what file size I should expect?

DoDS is great, I hope it brings more players over from DoD and new players to expand the community. Good going Valve :)

What's a 'sob'?

Clever rabbit, Valve.

Yay! Since there is a lack of a credit card in the HOUSEHOLD (don't call me some underage moron, or you will pay) I can finally play it. Plus I can decide whether I want to get it when it goes retail...though I doubt it will beat COD 2 leetness.

Whoever thought up this idea will probably be getting a promotion soon, if not already :D

Good move, but the game is poop.
Agreed...

I thought it would just be a simple port of DoD v3.1 to Source, but they changed too much for it to be enjoyable imo.

Recoil is insane, the iron sights on the M1 Garand are damn near useless, damage done by most of the weapons is very low...

I really regret wasting my $20 on it... even though $20 isn't much... it's that disappointing.

Have an issue take a tissue.

DOD: S was never meant to be a port of 1.3, and I can hit with all the guns fine, I think you should learn how to aim.

Oh right, thanks. :upstare:

btw, corrected. :D

screw that -
nearly a full gig of game!!!! for 3 days!!! for 4-5 maps!!! with no offline mode!!!!

i'll pass :|

Great! But all that "Click here to Pre-load!" button does is take me to the "Buy DODS" menu on steam; Is there anyway I can pre-load the game for free? so I don't have to spend the first day downloading it.

I'd already have DoD:Source, if STEAM WOULD TAKE MY MAESTRO CARD.!!!

I guess this is a last ditch effort to get people to waste their money on a nerfed version of the original hl version. Sorry but I am not at all happy with source, I am one of the people who thought he was buying a direct port of the hl version with just updated graphics/sound/maps etc. Source version is terrible compared to the hl version gameplay wise. Many more people play the hl version and for good reason, if you are smart play the demo but save your $ until and "IF" they make this what it should have been. Ya ya I know its all my opinion, but I am entitled to speak my mind so save the omg source rox comments for someone who cares.

Iit's enjoyable fun and worth a looksee if you aren't familar with it.

Uhm...probably one of their best ideas to date? I don't really want this game, but this sounds like a great way to taste it. Size of the game is worrying me but i'm preloading it now. Perhaps it may convince me to buy it, who knows...the world is a crazy place.

Thats why i got a folder in my SteamApps Folder!

Listen VALVe, i am not interested in any type of games you try to offer me if i am not interested by myself OK! So, please, dont load anything to my harddisk i dont want that crap OK!

Same Bullshit with the Ragdoll Kungfu Demo loaded to my harddisc without my knowledge, 380 Mb Deleted! I am not interested! Got it!:flame:

a) Valve aren't reading your messages

b) games only get preloaded if you choose for them to do so

I already have it but that's a really cool thing for Valve to do.
