Day of Defeat: Source Pre-loading Now

I'll just wait a few days before preloading ;)
Anyhow, I'm VERY glad I got a Silver Account!
 
/Looks happily at fully downloaded DoD:S .gcf file (after waiting 8hrs on 128k to get it)

/Looks unhappily at HL2 Collectors Edition

My Problem:

I live in Austria (Europe) and i have limited Bandwith. So is DoD:S available as a retail (standalone) packet?
And also no one in our famaly has got a creditcard. So buying over steam is very problematic.

why didnt they put DoD Source on the Collectors Edition ? :/

DON'T CALL IT A COLLECTORS EDITION THEN :P

now i must pre-order it, and i don't have a friggin' Credit Card :x

Yes you can get it retail.

It does state on the CE, does it not?
 
i have the collectors edition and this is what it says when i click on DoD Source:

so it means, you can only play DoD Source if u have a credit card!
u can't play DoD Source if u have bought a retail version in store....

(damn u VALVe)

Correct. DOD:S was only available through online purchase through Silver or Gold edition. No retail version has this enabled at the moment.
 
Well I don't know about everyone else, but I have been holding back my excitement for dod source until it was officially posted that a release date was set. Now that we have it, I could not be more excited. Next to natural selection, dod is the most addicting game I think I have ever played. I cannot wait to get back into it :) Yes, I am an mg42 whore, I have been called one of the best some people have ever seen (I love hearing that), I have a knack for getting into hard to nade places and providing great suppressive fire, so to anyone who has the unfortunate pleasure of getting lined up in my sites, I apologize ;) See you on the battlefield soon!

It will also be avilable via some package deals w/CS:Source

Ask Vivendi. They were the ones handling packaged distribution.

Funny you mention that, we just finished learning about Hobbes in C and E.
 
I was just digging around in the gcf files looking at all the tasty things to come, when suddenly my computer crashed. I decided not to venture any further just in case I did something.

I decided to play Dystopia instead, but I found that I needed to update HL2. It was on 27%!! So now I have a glorious 2 hours of waiting for Dystopia.

Proof once again that curiosity killed the cat.
 
I think the reason DoD:S couldn't be included with the CE is because DoD is bound up in a retail distribution deal with Activision. Likewise that is why it isn't featured in the EA HL²:GoTY edition either.
 
I laugh at everyone who bought the game in stores.

Silver package is the best deal ever.

Just look what $60 gets you.

Day of Defeat Source has a new Steam logo. Restart Steam and take a look... seeing as I can't be bothered to Screen dump it.
 
Heh i got it soon after it was up for preloading so mine downloaded in about an hour or so.

Uhm, helped restarting steam a few times. Got hooked up to some whatever random content server initially myself.
 
Man, this totally blows. I wish they'd make a package for us unfortunate retail users with DOD:S, HL:S, and the back catalogue. Now I'll be locked out of HL:S:DM when it comes out, too. If they don't do this with the release of Aftermath, I'm going to cry. :P
 
Mine took about 1.5 hrs when it finally let me start. I just installed and played far cry.
 
hehe, I got my broadband upgraded to 2MB today.
Took 30 mins to download :D

Right on!

I just preloaded DOD: Source in 40 min :D And that was because i was also downloading stuff on BitTorrent
