Stay tuned today for a full review of Day of Defeat: Source! Valve was kind enough to let us have a play of DOD: Source in advance of its release tomorrow afternoon and I must say: It's great![br]Just as something to tide you over until the full review later on today, I've made a video of some gameplay action (namely, me owning everyone) which I'd like to release via a new system we've got to allow downloads via BitTorrent![br]Day of Defeat: Source video | 38 MB | BitTorrent[br]To download this movie you'll first need a good BitTorrent client such as ABC. Just download the above file and open it in ABC and let it download. Once it is downloaded, please keep ABC open so you can then upload it to others![br]Enjoy!

Just over 1 minute. Quite high quality, though the sound is a bit cack.

Don't forget, as this is Bittorrent it's impertive that you all keep the upload going after you've finished downloading :)

if I kill one of the admins and take over his power (a coup) then will I have the opportunity to do things like this? Seems to me like it'd be worth it :D

All it takes is for you to be a content writer really... Only me and Suicide42 are testing it.

What speeds you'all getting?

It'll get a bit faster as time goes on.

My download rate seems to be varying widely between 10 and 40... as is the upload.

dods_preview.jpg

It started off around 40kb/s, but now it's staying at around 10 :(

That screenshot is on medium settings with HDR btw.

Lots of peers, not a lot of kb. :(

Edit: 14 down, 30 (max) up.

Yeah, but you're from Sweden. What's your full connection speed? 500Gbps? :p

Alright, I'm seeding now. All I have in terms of upstream bandwidth is ~40KB/s... but it's something!

I only have 30 :( But every little helps.

HL2Files.com will be mirroring the file shortly.

I upgraded it to 8 Mbit some weeks ago, but I don't think it has been fully updated. My download speed it rarely above 100 kB. But I suppose it has much to do with upload speed too... Although once I got 4 mB!!! I downloaded whole Pearl Harbor in 4 min.

EDIT: Nice pwning, Chris!

Omgawd Chris = haxor.

Entertaining video.

goes around 15-20kb/s.. 42% done.:cheese:

thanx for the file chris!

There may be more later if you enjoyed them so much ;)

Please just give us normal downloads. This is way too slow for a 38MB video. :(

Someone quickly hack into Chris_D's account.

Downladoing now, cheers,

60kbps, slowly rising.

By the way...the news..says you need to download a client for BT to download it. Why can't you just use the default Bittorrent client?

0-10kb/s download speeds, but torrents have never agreed with my PC.

By the way, what kind of specs do you have to run it on medium with HDR, are you running any AA/AF, and what kind of FPS do you get?

Weird, I'm now up to 100 kbps :(

What client do you use? I noticed that when I used ABC, I started slowing down to the effect of not downloading at all. I changed to BitLord 1.1 and I started d/ling again *probably some settings in the client, I don't know enough about BT to actually mess with them though.*

You can use whatever client you want, ABC was just an example. I didn't say you must download ABC, I said you'd first need a BT client such as ABC.

We can't host it on the web server, by the way. If we tried to the site would die.

Ummm... does Windows have a built-in BT client? I didn't think so... but Opera has one now, IIRC. So, even if you want to use the plain old BT it still counts as downloading a BT client. I use µTorrent because it's really tiny and efficient. For example, I've been downloading and/or seeding this file for a total of over an hour and it's still only tying up a whopping 5MB of memory. That's less than explorer.

Radeon 9800 128MB Non-pro
P4 2.66GHz
768MB RAM

Models: High Quality
Textures: Medium
Reflect All
Everything else on High
No AA, 16 x AF

Runs between 30-50fps. Can drop down a lot lower of course at bad times. Just because your machine will run DOD:S though, doesn't mean it'll run The Lost Coast. A lot of the artwork in TLC is a lot more detailed than in DOD:S.

whats your veiws on the class changes?
what resoultion are you playing at?

Oooh nice, so I could probably run High with 16xAF with my 9800pro, Athlon Xp3200+ and 1gig of Ram then?
Cheers, that just made my day. :D

138ksec on BitLord 1.1

You gotta configure your router for ABC and open the UDP ports or you get crap dload rates. BitLord needs no configuring - w1n

Well to be perfectly honest I really didn't like the original Day of Defeat, so my specific knowledge of what it was like then and what it is like now is pretty weak.

However, I really really like DOD: Source.

Let me play, Valve wouldn't get pissed because I'm site staff :D I'd even write content for you in the future and perhaps even *gasp* join over at sinepisodes.net!!
