Day of Defeat: Source Video

Yeah i saw you playing earlier on the dod_review server chris.

Very nice to see a good torrent. Getting 100kB/s.

Thanks Chris :)

~250kb/s, pretty slow but I'll have it soon.

Edit: 500kb/s, 10/10 fiberoptics is wonderful.

T:
Nice movie, can't wait to play it.

Woa, I'm getting three times as good a speed as I said before. Thanks again.

We need you to seed! :D

download 100% how the feck do i watch it? never used bittorrent before?

Mannn, where are the kar videos?

I'm bored with all these dod vids with their nooby spray guns ;)

Click on the file in the news post.
Use a BitTorrent client such as BitLord, BitTornado or ABC to open the file.
When the file opens, it will ask you where you want to save the download.
When it has finished downloading, go to where you specified the download and double click on it to watch it through Windows Media Player.

How do you mean? It's an ordinary .avi file? Just play it with your player of choice.

Just go to where ever you downloaded it too and run it.

If you don't know where you saved it then just do a search for chrisd_owning.avi using the windows search tool

OMG, you guys really need to learn how to use torrents...

Torrents RULE! Why do you think more and more software companies are starting to use Torrents to share their trial software and videos?

The Download speeds depend on how many people are seeding and also downloading like you. Everyone connected to a torrent is uploading, even if you only downloaded 1K so far...

It also depends on how much upload each seeder makes available for each torrent.

I have tried 10's of BT clients, i'll stick with Azureus.
I have full control of every file i'm downloading and/or seeding. Even if you are downloading a torrent with several files in it, you can specify what files you want to download, and even specify max upload rates...
Try it.

Watched it thanks. I honestly think this game looks pants, it just looks like call of duty or something similar. there is just nothing here i havent seen before, just another lame multiplayer shooter. but thats just my opinion.

I really think that if they added lean (only when you are not running) to this game it would rock. This way this is just another COD...

The best WWII ever is still MOH: Spearhead.

Pretty much unimpressed. Jumpy gameplay, and the famous valve hitbox issue, where you shoot a foot away from the guy but your bullet magically hits him RIGHT in the nose.

Also, that HDR looks like it would be quite bothersome. I keep thinking the video is fading to black, when it's really the HDR processing the light through the aperture effect. I'll still give it a good try though.

Hey Chris, what version of DirectX did the game use in your computer? Is it 9.0 mode or 8.0? I'm asking because I heard that HDR is working only with pixel shader 2.0 and DX9.0. Is it true?

Great news that you've installed torrent tracker here! I think this is the best way to deliver hot new content.

Why is that a hitbox issue? It's just that the SMG is a spray gun.

Or just lag. There's plenty of other videos that don't have this issue. Chris might've been playing in a server based in the US.

Can't say I liked the vid too much though :| I think it was just the choppiness but meh ;) Seeing as my thread didn't get too much attention there's some cool videos here - http://dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=54089

260 kB/s. I pre-ordered DoD:S today. I'll see tomorrow if it's as good as it should be. BTW, HDR looks kinda stupid and boring. Maybe it's better on full screen and 60 fps. I don't like bloom-raped games.

I noticed that to glo-boy, when chris d was shooting the enemy, half the time you can clearly see his crosshair isnt on the target, but its still a kill, i hate that.

Yea, speeds here are about 60 - 80kbps. Nice!

The movie is good, I would have liked to see maybe more weapons, or maybe some close ups on the ragdoll stuff. The blood looks nice!

But in all fairness, nice killin spree...

And also the fact that I'm in the UK and I'm playing on the only legitimate DOD: Source server which is in America. If anything seems odd, it'll be down to my 200 ping!

That vid didn't show off much of the HDR. Look at some of the IGN ones, they HDR effects look amazing :D

I agree. The constant lightening/darkening looks really ... weird. I'll have to play it to make a decision, but I don't think I'll use HDR in DoD:S or any multiplayer game... I mean what's the point?

You can disable it if you need to.

Holy smokes Chris, you were ****ing up those Valve guys.

although there is the serverside option not to let anyone play on that server who has it turned off.

Are you sure? That doesn't make any sense. A client using HDR has no effect on the server.

Maybe because they would have an advantage in certain maps with certain types of lighting?

Again, I doubt it. Even if it did, it would be miniscule. Maybe it interferes with server side calculations, I doubt that even more though.

Anyone wanna give me a hand seeding a few more files? You get to see the latest vids before anyone else :)
