the specular mapping seems to be wrong for the ground texture under the gatewings.

is this dx8 related, or also visible in dx9 ?

it's a mapping thingy, its not a glitch.. that texture has specularity applied, while the transition texture does not....

yeah ...
someone told me a few months ago that specularity is rendered realtime based on lightsources in source. maybe i still believed that -_-

it is... just only on surfaces that have specularity applied.

so the ground one side uses specular mapping for that nice glossy sheen, while the other does not... it was a mapping decision/mistake.

if you thought that everything in the game has specularity applied on the fly, thats a different matter... the engine (AFAIK) does not do that.... but not everything is "supposed" to shine.

if i was you i would just buy a 9600 off of newegg for 80 bucks it's a good dx9 card or if you got a lil bit more money buy a ATI 9500 it has 8 piplines for textures and if you wanted too you can flash it too a 9700 and then overclock it a pro because Dx8 is the past

Sure, but that error would still exist, because it has nothing to do with Dx.... It's a mapping error.
