This is the first BETA version of my remake of de_train for CSS! I've hosted it at Bots-United.com, you can download it here:

The second beta will include phys_props and full lighting, as well as some more detail in general.

It looks ok, but we'll have to judge it on the final version. But anyways, keep working on it, and put more trains ;)

Okay so well... The looks on this picture sucks ass. You need to be artistic here. I suggest you remove the current lights and place some fancy wall-lights that just look better. Maybe try rounding the corners or adding some kind of prop. It doesn't look right as it is now anyway.

Wtf is up with the door? You must see that it doesn't fit in to the arrangement, at all. I say just remove the door and it'd look tons better.

Okay... 1. 3D skybox. It doesn't look as immersive as a CSS map should.
2. I have a feeling the walls are too simple. It's not that they don't look right, it's that they don't look special. This doesn't NEED change but it's something you should look at.
3. The ground needs more props and the trains shouldn't be standing on a flat texture... It looks... wrong. You shouldn't have any problems with FPS even if you raise the tracks a little.
4. The metalstandthingies that stand above the tracks (I don't see a use for them?)... Ever heard of mitered ends? They REALLY need it.
5. I honestly think the original map was slightly more lit and I think it's better played as such.

Fix those problems and give me screenshots of the rest of the map and I'll keep commenting :)

Ok, looking good so far. But i also think you should improve your skybox. For now map looks like its floating in air (check last picture) add some buildings'n'stuff to 3d skybox.

Ground should also be littlebit more complex that plain flat texture. And whenever there is a door, window or a hole in wall/floor always put some 'frame' to it. Just plain hole looks dummy.

Just keep up the good work and finish it carefully. :cheers:

Dead inside summed it all up nicely. Listen to that wise man!
 
One comment he missed (or failed to expand on) was about the walls. In some instances you can try rounding off some corners where it might fit, at the moment it's all looking quite blocky.
 
one way you can instantly improve this map is by adding lensflare to the lights, the map is simply screaming for lensflare, its also a little dark, i suggest you change the skybox to daytime and add sunlight to it
