Debug Assertion Failed

Hello fellow HL2 people. I have a problem, everytime I try to play a game, or even change settings in steam I get this:

I've tried deleting files for steam to update, and i've also re-downloaded steam. Anyone have any ideas. If it helps I have JBMod and StriderMod installed, but both worked fine, and Half Life the original would never update and kick out an error whenever it tried to update too, or play.

oh dear sounds serious. Doubtful you'll find an answer here, being the wrong forum and such a weird one. Your best bet is the help and support forum, otherwise go over to the steam powered forums.

Steampowered forums are about as helpful as a bloody ashtray on a motorbike I swear.

Get yourself something like Filemon. Start it. See which file was being accessed when the error appears, then delete it/revalidate and try again.
