what is it about???
i don't have a ps2 to play it with and none of my friends
have the ps2 version

I'm kinda aware of what Decay is, but I don't really know anything about it.

Along with the complete and faithful port of the single-player game, Half-Life on the PlayStation 2 includes two multiplayer modes. The most impressive of these is Decay, a cooperative split-screen two-player mode boasting a new storyline that runs parallel to Gordon Freeman's single-player adventure. In Decay, you assume the role of Dr. Gina Cross or Dr. Colette Green and must traverse the bowels of Black Mesa solving puzzles and combating enemies much like their solo-play alter ego. The main difference is that Decay's puzzles often require both players to solve. For example, one player must keep a timed security override active while the other scampers past temporarily deactivated turrets. To add competition, both players are rated on kills, damage sustained, and gun accuracy upon the completion of each mission. Decay is a superb addition to the Half-Life universe, and cooperative play offers a unique multiplayer thrill that can even surpass the excitement of a head-to-head deathmatch mode.

so it's bacily like sven coop?

not like another path of how some one escaped black mesa?

probably like the latter, but to a much lesser extent. I envision the same path gordon took with a few new/replaced/remade rooms.

It's like Sven-coop, but it only for two players. (You can play it one player, but you have to switch back and forth between the two main characters) Instead of being continuous like Half-Life, it's broken up into missions.

Otherwise, it's just another part of the storyline like Opposing Force and Blue Shift.. I haven't finished it yet, but you do some cool stuff in it and learn some new stuff about the storyline. It is NOT just the regular Half-Life game with a second player.. it's ALL new maps, just like Blue Shift and Op4.

thats pretty cool then. but I don't like it since I can't play it on my PC :)

I'm hoping against hope we'll see it on the PC through Steam someday.. I had a HELL of a time tracking a copy of it down, so I know it's really not being made anymore, so it has very little chance of losing money from having two versions..

We DID get Blue Shift after all :D And a co-op mod would be PERFECT for Steam, IMO.

The accident was no accident.. Someone sabatoged the displacement coils for the Anti-mass spectrometer...

Dr. Rosenberg invented the Anti-mass spectrometer (And was VERY much against it being used at 105%, but the administrator overruled him.

Dr. Rosenberg was the one who called the military in.

And that's about as far as I've gotten :D

i have been looking for Decay for the past 4-5 months now.. and no luck :(

i only heard about it then too.. and was shocked hearing about it.. seems like none of the game shops know about this title in the HL series..
would u be able to get me a copy? yes, i'll pay for it with shipping.. i just can't find it anywhere here :hmph:

eBay has a !@#$-ton of copies of Half-Life for the Playstation2 (Which is the only version that includes decay) which is where I had to snag mine.

Holy crap, why was this released on PS2 and not PC? And they actually tell you that the "accident" wasn't an accident? yeesh, no fair.

So have you popped the CD into your PC to see if you can spot any map files?

There's several .pak files, but they're all in a format my pak reader can't read.. I heard that if you hex-edit it, you can listen to the sound files, but I haven't learned how to use a hex-editor yet..

Decay is on the same disk as the PS2 Half-life game, so you can't buy it seperately.

*SPOILER*

The vague plot, as I remember it, is as follows:

You play as Gina Cross (the training course hologram woman) and Collette Green, who is a new character.

You are working in a room underneath the test chamber, setting up the experiment for Gordon, then the incident happens, so you need to escape and find your boss, an old man in a wheelchair.
When you get there, he asks you to find Dr. Rosenberg.
After you find rosenberg, you go to a comm center and call the military.
After that, you shut down various machines in the hopes of stopping the aliens, and find a Barney who has the access codes for the rocket from HL1, so that you can set up the launch.
You then set up a machine that might stop the aliens once and for all
The game continues like this until you learn that a very large creature has been detected warping in. It's the boss, which is one of those alien ships that shot Shepard down in OP4.
It takes about 20 rockets, and is nearly impossible without cheats. When you win, the machine is working, and it's happily ever after.

Until the nuke goes off at the end of OP4. Whoops.

is there a PS2 emulator for PC?....lol I dont own any consoles.
