Have a number of .jpg files which i encrypted some years ago with resco 2007, but have now forgotten the passwords to. Did a google search and came across a thread in halflife2.net about a cracking competition involving a resco .rxf file some time ago!

Would it be possible for anyone here to help me out, either by cracking the password on the file, or by guiding me to a site/software that I may be able to use to crack the password myself?

Thanks a million...

What are the pictures?

Come on, tell us.

Lol at people with their encryption schemes.

These are not porn dudes, just pictures important to me because of the significant times they were taken at.

If anyone can help, or guide me to something I can do for myself, it'll be much appreciated.

The only way to decrypt them is to guess the password. You can get a program that will constantly try different passwords until it guesses it. There's brute force and dictionary attacks. It's basically hopeless - it could literally take years if you have a strong password, unless you can narrow it down in the options.

For example, if you know it's less than 5 letters, and they are all lower case, and there are no special characters (like $%@^&@) and you know there are no spaces, then your chances of cracking it are good.

Most of those password crackers cost money, but you might be able to find a free one and a set of dictionaries for it, but it won't be easy.

Good Luck.

So, why would you encrypt them?

What the... No? You're telling me you couldn't just put these photos in some obscure directory on your PC? What person is going on your personal computer and looking through your files? Why not just put a password on your PC?
