dedicated server

I have already done a search so don't go flaming me. I have an extra PC that I use to run game servers on. I run multiple games at the same time(UT3, CS etc.) These games are always up and it's very conveinant for me and my friends to connect and play. Problem is , I am not sure how this is all gonna work with steam. My cs server worked fine before, but now that I am transferring everything over to steam I am not too sure. I am not referring to the current slow bogged down state of steam, I understand that. When I installed steam on my gameserver PC, it asked me for my key, (I think it did any way). I can get the game up and running fine, but when I try to connect via my PC (in house), it says cd key in use. Now I've been running a CS server on the gameserver PC for a long time and have never had a problem. I do not play anything on the gameserver PC, it is only used to as a dedicated server machine. I have found very little info on this, so any help would be appreciated. I don't think that I would have to buy a separate copy of HL , just to run a dedicated server on steam, would I?
