I'll believe it when Valve confirmes it, I don't trust Vivendi (and NO they weren't right about a delay in june)
 
It makes sense its delayed because of the stolen code, but it does not make sense its delayed 6 months if this is now true, come on it does not take 6 months to re-rewrite some of the codes ? dont they have any backup or what are they gonna work 6 more months just to re-rewrite the code ? think again ffs.
 
I remember VALVe saying something similar regarding the Sept 30th release date. :cheese:

That's what we kept saying about the last delay, right up until Valve finally came clean and admitted that, yeah, the game is ****ing delayed.

My patience is starting to wear thin.
 
going by Valves track record I would be willing to bet the game is delayed until April and they won't say anything "official" about it until, well, April.

Seeing as how we have a precedent already we should expect that everything afterwards will follow the same pattern.
Oh wait, nevermind...thats stupid.
I'm holding on until its a unaminous decision.
 
Comeon Direwolf, look at EVERYTHING Valve has ever done. Have they ever made a release on time, ever? They couldn't get the damn bink videos from E3 out on time! Hell, we still don't have two of the E3 videos although we know they have been done now for about a month. Benchmark, delayed. SDK, delayed. TF2, really delayed. The first HL, delayed for a year.
 
I'm not saying its gonna be on time.
I'm saying that I'm waiting for a comfirmation that its been delayed half a year, something I think is reasonable.
 
Oh ok :). Still, if you want confirmation from Valve you'll be waiting for a long time.

I seem to have gone HL2-numb. I was all sad when it got delayed the first time. Now news surfaces of that beta and a possible second delay, and I just think "Well, crap". Probably the source leak that did it.

Now on to the topic, I'd rather wait for confirmation, which should come around the end of december, when all the holidays are nearly over.

The whole content of the game is practically done if they wre thinking they were going to get it done by the end of the year. If they have to rewrite some parts so that it can't be hacked like crazy upon release, then so be it. But I think you're exaggerating in calling it vaporware. I don't really care when it comes out. This delay doesn't bother me or surprise me, but I don't think it's never going to come out. That's ridiculous when the game is pretty much done in terms of design and programming.
 
well hey this is ****ing bullshit, valve just ****ed themselves over, now d3 will be out by then, and ut 2k4 will have no compeition. I cant believe it got leaked by a ****in exploit in IE and outlook, hell i could do a better job at IT then the ppl at valve

so? so play D3 and UT2k4 before HL2 then. Let's just save the best for last....

I'm semi-glad because now I can wait even longer to upgrade my computer. Feel bad for those that already did though...

Well that will suck if it's delayed but I can understand if it is. Look on the bright side, we'll have longer time to play our other games like Max Payne 2, Deus Ex2, and UFO: Aftermath. Does DE2 use the havok engine? I know MP2 does.

Sorry Wilson502 not picking on your post in particular, but 4FS!

The delay news gets published by Reuters -- the world's biggest and oldest news agency -- from the publically quoted company (it's on a stock market) Vivendi Universal who are legally obligated to tell the truth (as best they can) about things like this.

But no, that's not good enough for most fanboys is it? ;)
