Democrats propose Bills, Republicans worry about Filibuster

Absinthe said:
Bodacious, how can you expect people to respect what you say when act like such a repellent asshole? If somebody criticizes Republicans, you say the Dems are acting like bitches. When somebody comments on your attitude, you do a routine of apathy and/or tell them to report you to a mod. You constantly trash liberals. Hell, each post you make does, considering your sig. Least of all, you don't even answer direct questions.

So what do you expect? You are flamebait incarnate. You certainly won't be getting any courtesy from me when you act like such a prick (and I expect some smartass quip about what value my courtesy is to you). To act as if there's some liberal agenda to gang up on you out of desparation is false. GhostFox and Calanen manage to do well. So what's your excuse for being so vile?

because they believe that they are correct, and that only those who believe what they believe are correct. but dare we call them ignorant?

I really want an answer to my question, anyone? Ghost, seinfeldrules, hapless, Scoobnfl, Calanen, maybe even GhostFox, are you all out there???

they will doubtless call you a defeatist, ignorant liberal, or answer ONE part of your question (never the whole), dont waste your time.

because they believe that they are correct, and that only those who believe what they believe are correct. but dare we call them ignorant?
What blows my mind is how you can believe you are correct when you can't defend your position. When you can't defend your postion by definition you are wrong, are you not? I have another thread here that I wanted a reply on, once I debunked everything they said nobody came back to that thread as if it never existed, why can't they just admit they are wrong and move on; we'd have a much better country that way. When a democrat is wrong, I am willing to admit that. Oh well, you gotta love partisan politics; like Jon Stewert said, there is no other vote outside of a party line vote.

No Limit said:
...and the Republicans are fighting for what? No, really, I'm asking. Maybe some of you Republicans on here can help me out?

42 posts later, this question hasn't even gotten an attempt at being answered...
Bodacious helped that along nicely with post #3, his first in this thread, I might add... Nice job at doing what folks like you do best.

I'm curious to hear the answer as well.. I haven't been following too closely, but from what I can tell, all that's really going on right now is the Dems trying to stop a few people from taking offices they are horribly unqualified for, and the Reps are thinking about taking away their ability to disagree with them. (A bit of a one-sided way of looking at it, yes, but that's all it really boils down to...)

No one has answered because they know what I say is true.

It won't matter what the answer is, so why bother?

You seem fervent to debate a lot of other things, so you do a good job of not following through with your theory.

No. I'm more inclined to believe that you just don't have an answer.

what do you expect from someone who has a Coulter quote in his sig?

here's another quote by that harpy Coulter:

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war.
Ann Coulter"

...man, she makes Charles Manson sound sane

Some more fun quotes from Coulter

"When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty. We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors

Her words were applauded by National Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice, Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson, and Lynne Cheney (wife of Vice President Cheney), all of whom were in attendance.

"Liberals become indignant when you question their patriotism, but simultaneously work overtime to give terrorists a cushion for the next attack and laugh at dumb Americans who love their country and hate the enemy."

There is no serious dialogue or engagement of ideas between the left and the right in this country [because] there are no good Democrats.

So, Bodacious, still no answer? You had all night to try to come up with a way to spin it. Should we add another point for the liberals?

ugh, she really needs a billy club enema! ...I thought her brand of fascism died out with the third reich ...why do people even condon her brand of hate? I guess it's because they agree with it

you too can have your own Ann Coulter talking doll, who says such memorable quotes such as:

"Liberals hate America, they hate flag-wavers, they hate abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam, post 9/11. Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like Liberals do. They don't have the energy. If they had that much energy, they'd have indoor plumbing by now."

"Why not go to war just for oil? We need oil. What do Hollywood celebrities imagine fuels their private jets? How do they think their cocaine is delivered to them?"

You people can think what you want to think. Anything I say won't matter.

what have the republicans done in the senate in the last few weeks that is for the people. All you had to do was post a bill or 2 (I posted 9)...

9 Bills, , all introduced in the last 6 days, all introduced by republicans, for the people. I can't wait to hear what you have to say.

S.895 : A bill to direct the Secretary of the Interior to establish a rural water supply program in the Reclamation States to provide a clean, safe affordable, and reliable water supply to rural residents.
Sponsor: Sen Domenici, Pete V. [NM] (introduced 4/25/2005)

S.897 : A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to clarify the calculation of the reserve allowance for medical benefits of plans sponsored by bona fide associations.
Sponsor: Sen Hatch, Orrin G. [UT] (introduced 4/25/2005

S.897 : A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to clarify the calculation of the reserve allowance for medical benefits of plans sponsored by bona fide associations.

H.AMDT.85 to H.R.6 Amendment requires the Environmental Protection Agency to establish a program to encourage domestic production and sales of efficient hybrid and advanced diesel vehicles.

S.868 : A bill to encourage savings, promote financial literacy, and expand opportunities for young adults by establishing KIDS Accounts.

S.853 : A bill to direct the Secretary of State to establish a program to bolster the mutual security and safety of the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Sen Lugar, Richard G. [IN] (introduced 4/20/2005)

I could post a lot more if you want the last few weeks.

Great, but I don't see how this invalidates what the Dems are doing.

Absinthe said:

All I did was answer his question.

And I never said what the dems were doing was invalidated.

Wow, he actually answered the question; see how easy that was? The problem with your reply is that I was talking about the senate, which is where the filibuster will be blocked. So on your list the only ones that count are:

S.895 : A bill to direct the Secretary of the Interior to establish a rural water supply program in the Reclamation States to provide a clean, safe affordable, and reliable water supply to rural residents.
Sponsor: Sen Domenici, Pete V. [NM] (introduced 4/25/2005)

Keep in mind you repeated S.897. That is a total of 4.

So here are the bills in a nut shell: better rural water treatment, a bill to clarify a single rule in the IRS code, a bill to promote savings, and a bill to improve security for North America as a whole. Cool, at least you guys are doing something. Now the reason I asked the question (I'm glad you finally addressed it) was so we can compare that to what the democrats are doing: women's healthcare, Veteran's Benefits, Fiscal Responsibility, Lowering gas prices, improving education, improving and expending overtime pay, lowering energy prices, increasing corporate taxes, increasing benefits for families of soldiers in Iraq and around the world.

So compare the Democrat bills and the Republicans. Which do you think are more important for people in this country? Also, stay away from if you think the bills are right, this is not a debate about that. This is about who is doing more for the people.

I knew you would come up with some bullcrap. So senate bills are the only ones that count?

Whatever. Like I said, the answer doesn't matter, whatever the republicans will do will be wrong.

Bodacious said:

"All the democrats are trying to do is save face amidst staggering losses."

Says otherwise.

Whatever. Like I said, the answer doesn't matter, whatever the republicans will do will be wrong.

You're inferring things that don't exist.

Why does the senate only count? Well maybe you didn't read this in my original post:

voking a little-known Senate procedure called Rule XIV, last week Democrats put nine bills on the Senate calendar that seek to help America fulfill its promise

Again, when you say whatever the Republicans do is wrong you are again showing you lack of reading comprehension. Here is what I said:

So compare the Democrat bills and the Republicans. Which do you think are more important for people in this country? Also, stay away from if you think the bills are right, this is not a debate about that. This is about who is doing more for the people.
I didn't say what Republicans were doing was wrong, hell, I am all for providing better water to rural areas and making a tax rule a little clearer to read. What I asked you was which were more important to the American people, the Democratic bills or the Republican bills?

It doesn't matter who's bills are better. All you want to do is say the republicans are wrong.

Go ahead. Different issues are more important to different people. Right now getting those judges approved is the priority for the republicans.

Like I said, All the democrats are trying to do is save face amidst staggering losses.

The democrats will do anything and say anything to make republicans look bad so their chances of getting into power will be that much better.

The democrats play the partisain game just as well as the republicans. You know is true.

Bodacious said:

No, it is not about which is better as far as the bill is. I am asking you who is doing more FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE based on those bills.
Go ahead. Different issues are more important to different people. Right now getting those judges approved is the priority for the republicans.
You hit the nail on the head, Republicans gaining more power is the priority for republicans. Helping people is the priority for Democrats.
Like I said, All the democrats are trying to do is save face amidst staggering losses.

The democrats will do anything and say anything to make republicans look bad so their chances of getting into power will be that much better.
Oh okay, so a senator doing his job is only doing that job to make Republicans look bad? So if I have a lazy co worker that won't do anything all day and I do I am just working to make him look bad?
The democrats play the partisain game just as well as the republicans. You know is true.
I am yet to hear a Senate Democrat accuse Republicans of being against people of faith. Maybe you can give me some quotes of these partisan attacks from Senate Democrats? I can give you a huge list of Republican ones if you would like to play that game. However, I would prefer to stay on topic. I'll go ahead and make a thread about partisan attacks a little later today when I get some time.

this is good, but Bushs' secratary of the interior will do no such thing, this one is getting shot down.

this basically prevents strikes from being effective against employers. more power for the company owners, less for the employees, sounds about right

nothing a bank can't already do, just allows the government to **** with kids money and pays LESS interest than a regular savings account or bonds.

tacked on to the `Gift Card Protection Act'. which protects.... you guessed it, major companies! :hmph:

this is simply to place an effective embargo on generic prescription drugs from canada and mexico. it is a prime example of the republicans protecting major companies (in this case drug manufacturers) by destroying their competition. who pays for it? american citizens who previously had a cheaper way to get drugs.
