Dentists

Dentists are good people. Maybe I'm biased though because I have dentists in my family who do all my dentistry work.

I don't mind dentists, what is wrong with them? It is their job and most do a pretty good job at it too.

I remember when I was a kid, I used to complain about being scared so I could sit on the hot assistants lap :afro:

True story.

I've never minded dentists, even when I was having large needles jammed unceremoniously into my gums I was still pretty ok with them.

Maybe you should learn to brush your damn teef and they wouldn't be such a problem

I have had a severe phobia of visiting the dentist since a small child.

I now know that this is because I have a tolerance* to the local anaesthetic, which means I need more of it, and I have to wait longer or I feel shitloads of pain.

*: I can't remember the correct term.

My mother's a dentist, you prick.

So they're good people. All of them. Definitely.

Some dentists are alright, but a lot try and convince their patients they need unnecessary procedures simply to get more money from them.

I've never been to a dentist. I'm surprised my teeth haven't fallen out.

At least it's legitimate though, unlike... chiropractic!

I'm actually planning on studying to become a dentist when I leave school. It's not as competitive as becoming a doctor, and the pay is still pretty good.

I think as long as you're honest, ans brush your teeth, they're alright.
Also Dentists and Orthondontists fixed my teeth and jaws, so I likes 'em. And all mine were hawt.

Because of some problems I completely forgot my previous dentist appointment week ago, when I went there yesterday for another one I waited for an hour only to find out that they had cancelled the second appointment. They then made me pay 100euros in order to get another appointment in two months.

Fuuuuuuuuuu my tooth is so sensitive :\
I have to go get it checked this week. I hate going to the dentist...

Dentists can eat shit and die.
Before I go to a dentist for a cleaning, I always spend like 20 minutes brushing, flossing, and mouthwashing... and the ****er ends up shoving razor wire through my gums and using nasty ****ing tooth paste on a drill like toothbrush, leaving my mouth sore for like 2 hours.

**** DENTISTS.

I actually like my dentist as a person, he is okay, he even humours my fear, and by dentist standards he is good at his job, but I still ****ing hate what he is and yeah, gay.

TBH if I had any of those other types of dentist (as in, without an inch of human compassion) I'de probably drop his ass and go find another one.

I guess I am lucky my phobia presents itself by an all-consuming terror up to the appointment, once I am in that chair I just give up and aye, I'd hate to be the type that are freaking out during the whole thing.

I had a tooth yanked, an upper wisdom ****.

Its not so much getting yanked, I dislike the crack but aside from that it isn't a bother.

Its the after bit, the god-damn bloody pillow, the fact I cant eat anything a day or two after just to keep the wound clean and yeah, lameness.

Its so great to watch people you know enjoying cake and pizza and all those nice things (which ironically keep the dentists in business) while your living off of juice and milk and still having to wipe the dried blood from your lips in the morning, not to mention using mouth-wash after every drink because I'll be damned if I give any infections a chance.

*thumbs up*

I look forward to the day medical science can do better then drills and other assorted builders tools when it comes to dental care.

If you don't brush regularly and well, a 20 minute emergency-brush won't do squat, because you'll have gum disease. The wire is actually meant to bleed your gums to help get rid of the gum disease. Your gums aren't meant to be red, they're supposed to be white-ish.
Also you're talking about a hygienist, not a dentist.

Dentists are terrible and rarely fix my problems.

But my dentist is also smoking hot.

I went to the dentist last monday, and it was good, so shut the **** up. Could be because I don't pay anything since I'm under 21 :D

don't dentists have the highest suicide rates among those in the health profession??

Doesn't everyone usually brush their teeth before going to a dentist/hygienist?
It's just something that I've adopted from my mother always telling me to brush before a dentist appointment.

Also, didn't need the lecture in oral healthcare... I'm doing just fine with taking care of my teeth.
Aside from having had braces a few years back, mostly due to the nasty habit of thumb sucking as a child.

PERCENTAGE OF DEATHS DUE TO SUICIDE

U.S. white male population 25 and older (1970): 1.5

U.S. white male dentists (1968-72): 2.0 (85 of 4,190)

U.S. white male medical doctors (1967-72): 3.0 (544 of 17,979)

U.S. white male medical doctors (1984-95): 2.7 (379 of 13,790)

So they're not as bad as doctors.

Yeah generally brushing before a dentist appointment is important so you don't get bits of food in your mouth when they're trying to do stuff. I only said it's useless if you don't brush regularly anyway. Also, I wasn't lecturing you, I was just telling you why the hygienist does all that stuff.

Understandable, I just take my hygiene very seriously and get a little agitated when someone else tries to tell me otherwise.
Which you weren't trying to do, so I apologize if I sounded hostile at all.

I still love you <3.

I hate them.
All of them.
Mine is an asian and I hate him a whole lot.

Whats the Asian bit gotta do with it?.

Also, the biggest little annoyance is not being able to eat for fear of an infection or damage to the wound.

All I've had in my mouth today (gay jokes to the gay thread, thanks) is water, milk and mouthwash.

I've got a bowl of soup nearby cooling off but I'm too worried to try it just yet, I only got my tooth out on Friday...
