DC mod is just great but too bad I do not play Bf ONLINE.
 
Vanilla BF is great, it's just not for everybody. I just reinstalled the whole shebang a week ago and I'm hooked just like the first days when I bought BF. I have a BT link for those who don't like to wait in line at Fileplanet:

I'm sure its very good, but I still think the size is cumbersome... 550mb is quite large. Maybe I will try it if it comes out on a PCG dvd or something.
 
I love BF, but I don't really care for DC. Mainly because helicopters seem way too powerful once you can fly them well. If you know how to fly them, heli's can pretty much destroy anything quickly. Kinda makes the game unbalanced. BF just seems to have a much better balance than DC.

DC is getting better with every release though....remember bf42 is a finished game.


DC is much faster paced than bf42....some people dont like that.



.....and then there are the people who only like ww2 based games....
 
I love both modes, but find myself playing more DC simply because it changes so often.
The copters have undergone massive balancing over the course of patches, and this one doesn't look to be an exception. Stinger missle are a copters enemy. :D
 
Personally I like Forgotten Hope 10 times better than Desert Combat.
 
They're exact opposite approaches though...so thats to be expected.
DC is great to sit around and take turns with with friends.

You gotta remember that DC is still in the alpha stage heheh, helicopters are powerful yes, but they are vunerable at the same time, 2 stingers kill. anyway, downloadin now, should be good.

It took me 4 days to fully install all the files needed for FH :(

And holy shazbot it needs more than 1GB to install!!! GAH! And I still have to get the map pack! Ugh...
 
Ok after 3 crashes during install I finally got to play FH... I'm a bit disappointed to say the least:

I think I deleted forgotten hope and all other bf mods except dc, I free'd up maybe 3 gigs.

It's in one of the small houses next to the lake east of the first flag, on the second floor underneath a table. It's the most powerful handheld weapon in the game I think, it rox! :D
 
FH is great but it doesn't compare to DC. DC has by far the best BF mod team out there. The models and skins are amazing not to mention the work iggy does with maps. He uses all of his own custom objects and puts the maps together in an extremely original way. BTW: I love the new version, but I am still having trouble with stupid nvidia drivers, hope they take that stick out of their ass and fix it.
 
FH is fantastic, I loved the little bit I played it, however there arent many servers (at least when I played it last week) that had it up, perhaps due to the patching process...
if you are re-downloading FH, I recommend you wait till they introduce the hotfix for the 1.5 patch ;)

I love DC too, thats what I have been playing mostly, I havent been able to grab the .5 yet, I hope they fixed up the stickyness on some of the coalition's planes/jets. (harrier etc)

From what I've played so far they have. There is a lot more balance and the planes and choppers control much nicer, not as "jaggy" as before. I personally think the car-15 is a little over powered and makes all the little kids go coalition leaving many of the games unbalanced. However, this is not a huge deal as most of the servers I play on are well admined. Other than that this is by far the best release ever.

BTW: Anyone that got it today, be sure to check out the cloud effect in no fly zone, its simply amazing.

Im at 50% on my dl (had to sit in line for like 120mins at FP) cant wait. :)
I love flying the Hind, good to hear the stickyness has been addressed.
 
Deleted desert combat after .38 Patch. Got sick of it :-/
 
Eve of destruction is the best BF1942 mod in my opinion. The choppers are the best.

.5 is so much better than any previous version its not funny



.....everything from .35 to .4 was horribly unbalanced.

Yes. They sound really tinny and sort of dumb, but its better than the same American ones.
And the Coalition has some new sound-bites too.
