Because Misstress has spoken (Plus It'll make sure the whole thread isn't swamped with "I teh love Green dau they 0wnz!!!111one!" I'm in a transexual mood today

This sucks and is no fun what so ever, nobody will be intrested in just talking about someone elses choices and want to put in there own opinion, bagsied im after comrade badger

Just out of curiosity...If I were to take a game, surely I would need to take my computer as well. This then brings up the question "What is a computer without power?" So I need somewhere to plug it in...My house has quite a few spare plug sockets, so I'l bring that along with me as well. Though, my house needs to get power from somewhere, and while I'm at it I'l take water and gas as well. So, I need the United Utilities network to come with me. That of course brings with it a whole range of people. They would bring their items and...

Well, lets just say it'd be a whole lot easier for the shipping company, if we all stayed at home.

The Idea is to see what people's taste in music is, The whole premise does not nead to be picked apart tis just abit of fun if you don't want to take part then don't.

Edit: I just thought We will supply Hamsters in a huge hamster wheel lots of hamster and a mating ground to produce baby hamsters to replace the dead ones attach them to a turbine and bingo never ending power. (This may not work but it sure as hell would be amusing)

Damn you Comrade Badger hurry up and post your stupid discs so I can go!

I think you mean,
"Laptops make your spleen explode."
no no, sparrow is correct. I posted the article about it how overusing laptops on your lap can in some cases cause your testicles to explode in ever amusing ways.

And since it was posted on the net it must be true.

Comrade Badger better wake up soon

He said he'd get to work on it at 10'oclock GMT (Thats british time for you folks across the pond) so be patient and he will get it posted up soon so you can dissagree with his choices. Once he's done that I will use my high tech name chooser (I.e. my stereotypical english bowler hat) to choose the next suspect.

My Desert Island Discs!

The Postal Service - Give Up (a favourite, very chilled, mellow indie-cum-electronica... also a few songs have personal significance)

Catch 22 - Keasby Nights (Fun, happy, catchy ska with the occasional dash of punk.. never gets old)

The Datsuns - The Datsuns (rock n roll at it's finest.. perfect for jumping around like a nut where no-one can see you :D )

Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism (the Postal Service is a sideproject of this band's lead singer... need I say more? It's beautifully crafted music, some sad, some moving, some uplifting - it's all good :) )

The Killers - Hot Fuss (not quite sure how to describe this album/band. Let's just say it's utterly awesome, just intense, every song an anthem :) )

The Music - Welcome to the North (British. Good. Rock. Nothing better. The first album's not half bad either :E ... well worth getting hold of, even on import or whatever)

My optional film: Shaun of the Dead (It was a close run thing between this and Blackball.. Shaun of the Dead only just edged it.. my current favourite film)
My optional game: UT2004 (I bet this was a shock :E I haven't completed it yet.. and the amount of maps and gamemodes are staggering.. so it's a game on my to-do list)

If I could have had anything more, it'd be by Muse :E

Thanks Badger and tonight I shall find someone else worthy of Desert Island Discs Forum edition as I now have to bugger off to school. (And good call on UT 2004 HL2 would get very boring the 10th time round and brilliant choice on Shaun of the dead)

What and instead you'll get you PM box swamped with "I teh love Green dau they 0wnz!!!111one!" Wonderful.
Forget it Sue, I don't see why people shouldn't post them.

By the way: Comrade, bravo on The Postal service (thank you for the tip!) and The Music. Oh yes.

Candidate #2 Has been chosen by picking the first forumite I found who was online nad it is... MaxiKana I look forward to seeing his choices.

Wow... this is a hard one... lemme think...

Snow patrol - Final Straw | I just like them alot :p

Muse - Absolution | Gotta take some muse, since badger forgot his :p

Neljä Ruusua - Karelia Express | Ahhh what would life be without finnish music? a bit better I guess, but Neljä Ruusua are something special

Phantom Planet - Phantom planet | Got their album a week ago, dig it.

Our Lady Peace - Gravity | Bit depressing, but I like it

Nightwish - one | Nightwish, goth music from finland, they sing in English :)

Best of Guns 'n Roses | Gotta have the obligatory Rock album with me, and to me, there's no better than guns n roses

Armin Van buuren 2004 cd | A bit of trance if I wanna have a party with some crabs or badgers

Riight.. that should keep me jamming on the beach of that island for quite some time... now what game... If I had to leave now, probably Half-Life and it's mods... but more likely Half-Life2 garrys mod :P I'd have alot of fun with that.

Movie... That's a though one... There are sooo many good movies.. but one that I recently got on dvd is Dawn of the Dead (2004 yeah yeah I know, don't critisize :P) or perhaps castaway? that would be fitting...

And ofcourse i'd bring a surround sound system, a screen and a projector :P

oooh yeah, and food.

Good choices there MaxiKana. (except your choice of Dawn of the Dead version ;))

Cool thread, it'll be interesting to see who's up next to choose. :)

Ah, my Desert Island Discs then...some might say these are alittle obvious, i say; i just like mainstream music :) i tend not to go into music i dont hear often or like straight away and i dont get much chance to listen to new stuff.

1. Radiohead - Ok Computer
I love this album, listen to it allot, its quite depressing so on a blissful desert island, i guess this would be a nice change. :)

2. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
A funny, feel good, entertaining album, great musicianship in my opinion, the chili's are what I call summer music, i associate them with the hot sun on my face and feeling care free.

3. REM - Best of...
I can't not choose this, the album is full of classics, happy songs, deep sad songs, REM are a band for all occasions :bounce:

4. Muse - Showbiz
Their first and in my opinion best album, i just like who this album flows, the songs are great. I had trouble picking which of the muse albums to choose, but it would be this one, if not just for the incessantly moody 'Showbiz' then for 'Sober'.

5. Oasis - Definatly Maybe
You've got to put Oasis up there, well... either them or Blur ;), and this, i think, is their best album.

6. Metallica - Ride The Lightning
Good, solid, thrash metal album, i grew up on Metallica, only to be bitterly disapointed by their latest money spinning effort... but they've made some great music in the past and this record is a perfect showcase of it.

7 Game. Rome: Total War
I started playing this game the other day and it's got a tight grip on my gaming hours... i would have voted UT04 or HL and mods.. but i cannot, for i would become bored of twitch fps and the linearity of HL or hl2. So i opted for a fantastic Strategic game... it would have to be this or my friends and poker and chess. Down with the Greek i say, damn them.

8 Film. Schindlers List
If it was any film i own, this would have to be it. LOTR was close in there, but that being three films, i didnt think would make the cut. Schindlers list is a fantastic film, perfectly made and shows the real destructive nature of the human race, but also, it's rare rays of light and consistant hope.

Well, there's my choices. :cat:

Thank You Oldagerocker (And good call on Oasis that is my favourite album but this threads not about me). I'll PM another person tomorow for their Desert Island Discs.

Look's like it's my turn then. :)

1. Tool -- Lateralus
My favourite album when I first listened to it, and nothing has managed to beat it thus far. Epic in every sense of the word.

2. The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster -- The Royal Society
Sleazy stoner/punk record. Sounds ever-so-much like Nick Cave jamming with Captain Beefheart and The Ramones, turned up to 11.

3. Oceansize -- Effloresce
Muse + Acid + two extra guitarists - Space Opera = Oceansize

4. Lynyrd Skynyrd -- Thyrty Disc 1
"Sweeeeet Hooooome Allllllabama!"

5. Led Zeppelin -- Remasters Disc 1
All the best songs, and it's only half of their "best of" collection. :)

6. Metallica -- ...And Justice For All
Metallica at their most progessive and political.

7. Game: Silent Hill 2
Best adventure game ever made, bar none.

8. Film: Solaris
****s with my head every time I watch it. :)

That was harder than I expected. :)
