Ive been looking for a good desktop randomizer, but i cant seem to find one without 10 day limits, or have horrible configs, and whatnot.

Any suggestions?

Do you mean a different background or a icon layout tool or....?

any number of setting from different backgrounds on restarts, periodically, opening programs, etc.

The ones ive found were either outdated, and not compatible with vista, has horrible options, has 10 day trials, etc.

Yeah, I'd like to have one of these for my work XP machine. Also maybe the same thing for a screensaver...goes through different pictures in a directory.

1.) Not for sale yet
2.) Work computer, can't.
3.) No.

to control start up programs I use r2 Studios Startup Delayer. You can control what programs start up with your computer, and you can set a delay time for them to start up when you boot into windows. So instead of everything starting up at the same time, I can set my firewall to start up first, then next the A/V, then mouse and video drivers, then object dock.

I use it on XP, dunno about other OS.

Stardock makes a boot screen randomizer, and there is also a wallpaper randomizer, but I can't remember who makes it.

all of these are free.

Unless I'm not understanding this correctly, there is a screensaver for both XP and Vista that do this already. Just go to the screensavers tab thing and choose the My Photos one or whatever. Then from there just click options and choose the directory you want.

As far as the OP's problem goes, I was in the same boat when I tried looking for a program to do that in XP and never had any luck.

As far as screensavers go, Google Photos Screensavers is the perfect app for ye.

check out automatic wallpaper changer from download.com

seems to work well enough

Man, I should just write an application that does this, and rake in the cash.

Doesn't sound too complicated. And I'll give the OP a 30 day trial! (with enrollment in triple advantage and purchase of a JuiceHound(tm) Juicy Juicer)
