Hey guys, i just wanted to see if anyone else was a crazy deus ex fan like me. Along with the HL series, its my favourite game. I absolutely love it - so immersive.

now i know ion storm has just been disbanded and spector has left - but apparently he's going to be doing consultancy work for eidos on 'unannounced' titles.

does anyone know if there's likely to be a deus ex 3 game from eidos? if anyone has ANY info i would very much appreciate it.

cheers guys - here's to intelligent FPS games, an increasing rarity these days :(

They should just leave it alone. After the travesty that was Invisible War, I don't trust any company to make another.

No info on Deus-Ex 3 yet and I doubt we'll see any. Deus-Ex is probably one of the greatest games ever. In-fact, I'm going to reinstall it now.

I've never played it. I'll try and track down a copy today.

it is tres tres cool :)

never completed it:p but hehe tis fun

ok, now i want to play too

Deus Ex 2 wasnt what I hoped for it to be but fun nevertheless. I'm sure when they got bored enough they'll make DE3 :p

Deus Ex was a fantastic game.
Invisible war was a big let-down because of the xboxification, but still a very fun game.

As far as I know dx:iw flopped on the pc and sold only moderately well on the xbox. If they didn't make a considerable ammount of money from the xbox-version I doubt they will be willing to do another consolegame based on such an advanced concept (read: too advanced for the average console-player). Another pc-dx is out of the question. Sadly.

.bog.

Reinstalled deus ex the other day....

It wont load up today!!! :frown: :(

I cant seem to fix it either!

Tried installing the latest patch?

I can't seem to find my CD!:(

Don't mention Deus Ex cause it will make me rant about invisable war. Oh no, here it comes...

rant rant rant

invisible war looked shit, so i didnt buy it

tho i didnt hesitate getting deus ex when it came out even tho my pc was way below spec i spent ages tweaking the sihdoozle outa it to get it smooth, was worth it sucha fun game :)

Terrible they just went in the right direction with invisible war, and now it has ended.

The right direction? They certainly went in a lot of directions, but not one of them was the right one.

/me dreams of a day with Dues Ex 3 with the unreal 3 engine :D

I had fun playing IW, but it still left a bitter taste in my mouth. Another sequel was supposed to be in pre-production before Ion Storm dissolved. I think Eidos owns the rights to the property.

I seriously hope that another one is made, just because I loved the first one so much. If a developer were to take it on, I'd hope that they'd study the first game intently and find ways to add to the already-amazing structure, rather than adopt the subtractive approach the sequel took.

Can someone provide me with info about deus ex because I've never heard of it.

Sorry haha

BTW was the Deus Ex movie cancelled or something? I haven't heard about it in ages.

Edit: Never mind. I just checked IMDB. I remember when it used to say something like "production for this film has been cancelled", but now that's gone and the title is scheduled for 2006.

Of course, IMDB is based a lot on hearsay, so who knows.

Ok seriously, PC fan boys need to shut the hell up. There aren't any "special" PC games console gamers wouldn't be able to get unless it was "console-ized". Your not special.

Now, Deus Ex 2 was a good game. Not great. Not amazing. But good. The plot was still good with exciting twists and the gameplay was waaaaay better than Deus Ex though I was pissed they took out most of the RPG elements. And before anyone even goes "RIGHT THERE, RIGHT THERE, THERE'S THE CONSOLE-IZATION", no. It was to make money with the masses. Do you think any average gamer, pc or console, knows much about leveling and such? No they don't. It was simply because they're greedy bastards who wanted to make money.

Now about the Deus Ex movie, I believe it's still in production. Some guy wrote a script for it.

Deus Ex 1 was INSANE best game ever.
Deus Ex 2 was very good but no where near the 1st.
Deus Ex 3 if done right would be insane.

Deus ex is simply one of the best games ever made and I was hugley disapointed in IW - that's not to say it was a bad game mind.

I still hope for Deus ex 3....one day...

Me too, Deus Ex was probably the best first person shooter i have ever played, and IW was totally messed up but still wasn't a half-bad game.

Still want them to make Deus Ex 3 if they ever get the chance

DX2 was too "mass-market FPS" for it to be good fun.

Yeah, I tried the patch... the installer died :(

I'll try later. Oh and yes, IW was a feckin joke in my opinion.

They took everything cool out and left a shell of a game with many large problems that couldnt be fixed.... but more annoyingly.. many small problems that could quite easily of been sorted out. GRR!

IW was great, it was nononse pure fun, had a better stroy then the first, had better subplots, better characters, better lvl design, more atmospheric graphics although not very good by the standards when it came out. IW was just great for, and I know that I'm the only one in the world that thinks so, cause as far as I knew even spector said that the first was better, but I don't care I love IW just the way it is.

I loved DX1, but after playing the demo of DX:IW I was skeptical that it could deliver the sequel I wanted, so have never played it.

The X-box was their mistake, honestly the X-Box has ruined some of my most anticipated PC games.

I think you guys ought to be looking out for BioShock. Its done by a large amount of the people that made System Shock 2. And we all know how much Deus Ex ripped that off (Not to mention how much DOOM 3 ripped it off o_O)

OK so character interaction may not be there, but it would still be cool.

Although the best thing in Deus Ex was hanging around in the UNATCO building.

That rocked.

Project Snowblind was supposed to be Deus Ex III. But then DE:IW tanked, Ion Storm dissolved and the dev team decided to move in another direction. It got quite mixed reviews: stats on Gamerankings

There is a demo for Project Snowblind but I haven't tried it. Most people on this forum didn't like it a lot.

It wasn't meant to be Deus Ex III, it was just supposed to be based in the same universe. It's an offshoot title, just like Ghost is to StarCraft.

Whoa whoa whoa, while I agree IW was a good game, Deus Ex definetly had a better plot, subplots, and characters.

dude, are you thick? everquest. world of warcraft. Final Fantasy. what do those game use? oh yeah - leveling up. the grind. difference was deus ex got rid of the grind and made rpgs fun.

I felt that DX:IW was almost a prequal in a gameplay sense, i don't mean as in story wise, but it seemed to go 'back' with a lot of gameplay elements. For example DX2 has smaller levels, no skill system, buggy, little augs to choose from, little gun mods to choose from, and no deep characters or not even a good story, whereas the first DX was almost an improvement on all of these things. It's like they completly went backwords on the gameplay of DX. If DX:IW was the first game and DX was a sequal, than this would be a rediculously awesome series. But they really droped the ball by being too greedy and thinking they could simplify the game for a main stream audience and forget their PC roots. They backstabed their base audience, then bit the dust becuase of it. I hope other developers will learn from this.

If they do make it, it should:

Take place as if IW never happened
Return all the gameplay elements that made Deus Ex, well, deus ex
and have actual inviroments and cities that arent just a bunch of hallways

man i wanna play deus ex right now but my cd is at home, like 20 miles away. is it bad if i download it :p

You can't definatly say Dx1 was better thne Dx2, causet hey are simply two different games Dx1 is a rpg and Dx2 isn't, it's a matter of tastes.

IMO DX2 was way better:

1) better atmosphere, in Dx1 everything was grey pretty much
2)better gameplay. i didn''t enjoy the Dx rpg, prametars, I don't enjoy beeing a highly trained secret agent who can't shoot shit 2 feet in fron't of him, I like my characters to be able to do basic stuff and and that all the biomods ads extra, thats how it was in Dx2.
3) better lvl design, the lvls maybe smaller but they are btter designed to be able to host different gameply styles
4) subplots are way better and the characters more intersting, I liked the social political story, in Dx1 it was mostly nonintersting conversations full of abbrivations. The quesqog and pequog in Dx2 was a brilliant mirror story of the main story.
5) a lot more varietly and better pacing, there constantly twist in the plot from the very beginning.

Imagine Deus Ex with decent fighting :)

That would be special.

How anybody can say DX2 was better is beyond me. Granted, if you preferred DX2's atmosphere, I can't say anything to change that. If you don't like RPG elements, then ditto (although do recognize that the majority of the DX community liked those features). But to say that the level design was better is nuts IMO. Travelling around areas the size of a shoebox is not what I'd call fun. At least in the original there was some sense of something expansive beyond the skybox and map limitations. But everything in DX2 felt cramped and illogical in terms of spacing. And the subplots, faction choosing, and all that jazz felt unrealized. Basically, I could go piss off all of the factions as much as I wanted until the last fifteen minutes of the game. There were seemingly no reprecussions or benefits for aligning myself to a particular faction. It all came off as very fake and the feeling that I've made some kind of impact was nonexistent. And most of the "twists" that popped up in the game were often predictable and felt forced or uninspired.

Having a Helios-merged JC Denton dispensing wisdom to you was cool, I thought. But everything else fell below the bar DX had set.

Uh huh. Well I'm not going to kill you for having an opinion, but I really don't agree with it hehe :p

The only part of IW that to me had good atmosphere was Seattle and from there it went downhill. The characters will bland aside from Saman (Hehe) and I thought the plot was pretty straightforward compared to that of deus ex.

Don't get me wrong, IW was still pretty good :)

Thats not true you couldn't do that till the last fifteen minutes of the game, but you still could piss them off very late i agree, but that had a very good reason if you actually followed the plot, which was infinatly better than that of the first, the subplots very genius, they let you understand the situation in a different way and thus made the plot even stronger. I have no idea how you can find the plot of the first better, it's the first one that had a bland and predictable plot, there was no originality what so ever in it. It wasn't original, it wasn't good, it wasn't exiting, it was just enough.

The areas were way better. In the first they were big but they were also very empty and very blend, but main reason why I liked them is because they better accomodated different strategies, so that you could play the way you wanted, in the first, no matter how stealthy you played you were still going to have to fight a lot, and the best strategie and the one that you had to use a lot of the times, was to pick them off run back wait till the alarm is gone.

+ it was very unbalanced, I'm right now can turn invisible, can walk silently, have uber balistics protections from augs alone and can carry the best weapons and use thme effectivly, besides the energy sword ruins the balance totally, it so powerfull in the hands of people who didn't even chose to augment melee that the people who did are screwed over.

And what kind of people play those games? Hardcore rpgers. Not the average gamer.
