Paul can actually live if you fight with him and get out of the hotel. You'll end up seeing him later at that Chinese guys place. Can't remember his name but he deactivates your kill-switch
Yeah, I know that. Why else would I recommend that you get killed in the Hotel so that you save Paul? My problem was probably a bug, or else I simply decided that prancing out onto the Street via the front door would be a mistake, and so I flicked the trigger on the window and got Paul killed. That was my first playthrough. I saved him the other 7 times...

I saved Paul on my first playthrough. That's one of the best situations to use gas bombs in.

I can't believe how Ion Storm screwed with the 2nd Deus Ex.
That was a complete piece of scheiss
Uninstalled it after a few hours and won't touch it again

A game like Deus Ex deserves to be bought. FIEND!

/calls government

i loved (and hated) the game
loved the story, the characters, the nonlinearity, the freedom, the immersion
hated the combat - it felt so awful, not solid or concussive
hated the ridiculous difficulty of some parts
hated the way it made me nauseous (GTA 1 was the only other game that literally made me feel unwell)

on my only playthrough i played as a killing machine only sneaking when i was desperate for health - the assault rifle was awesome once you invested every mod in it :E
i was on the second last level before i realised it could fire he rounds :S
i was playing it again with my gf but we broke up and she still has the disk :(

Heh, if I were you in that situation I would get drunker than an irishman in a barrel of booze and go to her house late at night and fall to me knees and wail "pleeaaase give me deus ex back, PWEEAAAASEEE!"

That oughta show her... :D

Sorry for your double-loss, though.

.bog.

you know me better than i know myself <3

Yea, so I "Got" Deus Ex and this game is awesome! This would be perfect if it had the physics of Deus Ex 2 (Just not making your guy so strong he can throw a crate like 50 feet....) + Ragdolls, you gotta have ragdolls!

Yeah, but am I the only one who finds the enemy AI ridiculous at times?

I mean, they just seem to tip-tap around stepping on each other's toes.

Except the robots. On Realistic mode they're a complete bitch.

Be fair, it was released nearly 6 years ago. They've got the basic concepts down pretty well though - running away when near to death, strafing... etc.

Hehe, awesome game.

Posibly my favourite ever...

And I aggree with whoever said it earlier. If you invest in the assualt rifle it becomes a fearsome piece of kit.

Picture this:

You have your basic rifle, with a scope, silencer and laser sight... enough skills and mods to make sure it has 0% recoil... and near 100% accuracy...

Then you put enough mods on it to make sure its got shitloads of ammo in a single clip.

You now have a weapon that you place over your targets head with the laser sight and hold the trigger until they die. And if there are any nasty robots lurkin arround.... use the alternative ammo! :D

WIN!

I have the CD here, if the D drive would open I'd install it!

I think Half Life did a better job at enemy AI. Hell, even Unreal Tournament's bots were better. Or perhaps I have simply played too many FPS games and have acquired zen status where human enemies are concerned.

I agree with Half-Life, the squad team AI was excellent for its time. UT's bots are just... bots, though. They simply run around marked map waypoints and shoot on sight.

OMG NECROMANCY!

Anyway. I'm playing it again. :D
I killed Navara on the plane.
I save Paul and killed everything in Battery Park except Gunther(except for one bot which he killed himself due to an AI bug)
I'm now in Hong Kong and I have the dragon tooth!

Hong Kong is Deus ex's shining moment. ITS AWESOME.

*Starts humming the Hong Kong tune*

Funny how in the MJ12 lab they put the hologram machine behind a force field and the high-tech uber sword in a glass case.
