oh my! let the speculation begin

Never played a Dues Ex.

I wish I cared more about this concept art.

I've recently started playing deus ex again, i really wish it had auto saves since i keep dying =(

OH GOD! SO EXCITING!

I wonder what is that place...
Reminds me of Versalife, you know? D:

WoW, a deus ex in the future.
I don't know man, they are making some huge differences.

Never played a Dues Ex.

Buy the value pack on steam and play it, and then play the sequel. DX is one of the great PC games (easily up there with HL), and DX:IW is one of the great examples of how poor technology choices can have a detrimental effect upon a game.

I'd prefer to hear some gameplay info. Augs? Skills? Inventory? Universal ammo?

Great. Factory doesn't look too futuristic. I hope it will be prequel for the first DEx or at least DEx IW.

I am still uber skeptical when it comes to DX3. I'm, like, 70% sure it's going to be a disappointment.

But this at least looks like a step in the right direction. None of that neon sci-fi crap from the sequel. It looks much closer to the original's style. The room itself looks twice bigger than most of IW's maps.

Concept art is still just concept. But it's going to take a lot for me to really get excited about this title past the the initial "OMG DX3 WOOO" feelings. And this makes me feel just a little bit better about it.

Oh, no doubt, stacked up against the original it'll be a dissapointment. The best I hope for with sequels like this being made by another dev is that they'll find a way to stick out on their own merits. 90% of the time when they try to make it too similar to the original game they **** it up and piss off most of the original fanbase. But then again being too different could be bad too... I can already hear people saying "why even call it Deus Ex?" :P

You may have already seen it (it's in our IW thread), but Harvey Smith himself admitted that the modern-day element of Deus Ex was a critical element and that Invisible War's setting was complete rubbish.

Anyone speak this Archaic Romance language?

Hopefully they will have good gameplay/storyline. I don't give a damn about anything else, it could have DX1 graphics for all I care, as long as they keep the good gameplay/storyline.

The art looks great, they are at least drawing in the right direction..I like to believe that a team like this cant **** it up.

Stephane D'Astou took advantage of his trip to (emission? wtf) M.net in Montreal to present the first image ever of Deus Ex 3, of which the production is well underway in the new studios of the canadian metropole. The image is a concept image of a large space that seems to be a laboratory. " These concepts help our artists visualize the setting in which want to place Deus Ex 3. ", says David Anfossi, producer of the project. "We've contacted the original concept artists of the previous versions to really portray the direction we've taken", he adds. The pressure is great on the young Montreal studio, especially since the cuts by the big Eidos bosses in England some weeks ago. In the interview, the two representants of the Montreal studio were rather tight-lipped about details concerning Deus Ex 3. "On Youtube, our fans have analysed the first video, image per image. They've worked hard.", Stephane D'astou says with a smile.
There still has been no release date set at the moment.

It's possible I screwed up some stuff, French people feel free to reread the original article and correct me

Why are people so happy about a drawing of a generic lab?

Boring concept. A generic lab doesn't make good media.

Taviow get on Steam so we can play Starcraft purlease.

I think they are taking the lessons learned from IW to heart and believe they're truly trying to find what made the original so amazing, and applying that to the new game.

Im going to let myself get moderately excited for this game.

Why are people so happy about a drawing of a generic lab?

Because Deus Ex is basically supposed to have generic labs.

When's the last time you walked into a lab or office building in real life and said "Whoah shit! This looks different!". DX wasn't the prettiest looking game, but I believe a lot of its drabness can be attributed to their decision to ground the game in more realistic environments. Let's face it. We have a lot of generic shit in reality. That suited the game well IMO.

At the very least, it assures me that they won't make the same mistake as they did with IW's style.

The second game's endings basically ****ed up any hope at a good story without picking a single one (which would kind of suck).

I always figured they could go with the "Kill all leaders ending", and you know, you'd be working to prevent the outcome you saw in IW. Or something.

To be honest, I liked design of Invisible War better. Design of almost everything in first DEx was quite mundane and boring IMO.

I really want this game :( I didn't really like IW much, to be honest, but the original Deus Ex I must have played nearly twenty times over. I played it yesterday, in fact, and STILL discovered things I didn't know before.

I'd have loved to have worked on this game. :( But that would mean not only moving to Canada but also travelling backwards in time.

God forbid you ever tried to stack anything and climb it.

Yeesh.

Referring specifically to sea's "shitty character movement" comment.

All the phys objects seemed to have the weight of a pillow cushion too. The whole experience just felt really disembodied.

Just thinking about it is actually irritating. :|

I remember going through the appartment, finding a plate and throwing it against away and being at how astounded how ugly the plate looked as it flew across the room and shattered against the wall with a bad frame rate.
