Just watched the first episode and it was really good. It seems like Dex has his hands full this year so far. Also if you have Netflix, they've been putting the show on there to stream which is a welcome alternative to downloading it.

Just saw the first episode as well. Pretty awesome. Haha so what do you think of John Lithgow? Probably the creepiest intro to a character I've ever seen.

Saw this a week or two ago, absolutely brilliant. Can't wait for the season to officially start.

anyone know when the next episode is?? I don't have Showtime so I imagine episode 2 will be next week right??

"****ing dead people"

Ahaha.

Great episode. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Lithgow is quite creepy.

Also, two serial killings going on in this season? Exciiiiting.

Yeah, but...

Trinity kills in 3's, and he's already stalking his second victim, so they'll drag his part out over the whole season I'm sure.

So far the writing isn't impressing me this season. Not that it's bad, just that it's not as good as it has been in the past. /$.02

Yeah he kills in 3's, but we don't really know how often that is yet. Is it 3 people every ten years? Three every 5? Three every one? We don't know that about him. Hell, Lundy only even calls him the Trinity killer because evidence he's found suggests it's in 3's. It might not even be that.

The preview for next week made it look like the second victim is gonna die then, so who knows if they'll drag it out with the last victim, or do something unexpected with the character.

Perplexing episode. Interesting that the Trinity Killer has multiple methods. Also I love Lundy.

And oh my God yes topless scene. That girl is just delicious.

Didn't like the ending.

Episode was good. Lithgow's scenes were great.

What is there not to like about the ending? Nothing wrong with Rita seeing a little of Dexter's dark side. D:

I suspect they're doing it for pure shock value. They did similar in Season 2 when she found out he was a "Heroin Addict" or Alcoholic or whatever the **** it was. I don't think it's necessary. Though they could prove me wrong.

The topless scene was ace, I definitely fist pumped the air in delight when that scene appeared. So sexy.

Ending was silly, my reaction was kind of "So what, he'll explain it"

Trinity Killer plot = win win WIN so far

Oh, I forgot to make my Season 3 Dexter: THAT SHIT WAS TIGHT post. Well yeah, it was, as my avatar might suggest. The best plot and writing of all the seasons, other than a slightly lackluster ending, it was magnificent. **** yes, Jimmy Smits.

Oh, and now I'm going to completely avoid this thread forever because I wait for Dexter DVDs and this thread will make me curl up in a ball and cry in jealousy. Bye!

She has the same eyes as this girl I knew (and obviously wanted to see topless) so this was like a gift from god.

Yeah, exactly. It seems silly.

I'm still interested in the idea that the Trinity killer kills in threes. At the intro of this episode, where he got this woman to kill herself, I thought perhaps there was a whole other batch of murders he committed just by having a different MO.

What's interesting about him as a character, is not just that he uses a different method for each of the three, but what the method is. One girl, young, is put into a headlock and bled in a bathtub. An older woman, with kids, is forced to jump off a building. And a man has his head smashed in. They are completely different. No similarities in age, sex, location, level of violence. But at the same time, it's so far from being random.

Are you talking about the murder in the guy's hotel room and Quinn steals the money from the safe? If so, that was a completely unrelated murder. Like Lundy said, the Trinity killer fits a description with each kill. The mother was 36, 2 kids, and a husband and the young girl. Etc.. Etc.. Definitely different though.

Also, I totally, TOTALLY agree that the ending was completely silly as balls. I was watching it with my friends, and I was said, 'are you serious..?' I mean I understand what they're trying to do, but come on. Like previously said, this is the 'drug' situation over again. Dexter is going to try and explain it wasn't him, and Rita is going to be incredibly pissed off about it and not believe him, and blah blah blah. I really hated the ending.

The street full of people took me a while, but finally got it. Never knew you could do that with youtube.

With Lundy back in town, especially given the first episode cliffhanger, I'll bet there'll be another theme about Dexter being close to getting caught throughout the season. This will just add another little layer of suspicion to his odd habits, remember Rita already almost went and talked to La Guerda about the hours he works.

Also wouldn't surprise me if Dexter has to end up killing Quinn. This little beef they're having could get out of hand, so Quinn starts to investigate Dexter's habits just like Doakes did. Perhaps the thing Quinn had with IA turns out he actually killed a drug dealer or something to take the cash since we know he's at least a little dirty now. And even if he never actually killed anyone in a bad way, he may still have to kill him to keep with the code if Quinn finds him out. Just my theories, tho.

-edit- Forgot to mention....Deb's about to find out about Laura Moser, too. That could definitely play into some suspicions about Dexter depending on who she tells about it, especially if she hooks up with Lundy again.

Great episode.

I had a feeling that it would come to that when the scene started dragging on too long.

Dexter crying was quite surprising. To us as well as the character.
I don't think that he ever truly felt that emotion towards anybody, hence the overwhelming reaction.

I'll miss Lundy. They should have killed Debra instead. I can't tolerate the whiny bitch any more. She is beyond ****ing obnoxious.

****. Best episode in a really long time.

Also you'll have to tolerate Deb for the rest of the season, I guess. She'll be obsessed with continuing Lundy's work now. I think she's alright.

One of the best episodes thats for sure.

I agree with Tav. Deb will probably continue Lundy's work but will Dexter help her? or work on his own?

oh and the ending was just creepy and scary..can't wait for next episode!

oh and any one know what that scene behind the bar was about? when Trinity kept shouting ******?

Definitely one of the best episodes so far.

- The bit with Trinity wanting to get beaten up a bit I found kind of weird. My first thought was that he was indiscriminately looking for a target, lone drunk male, someone that no one would notice missing. Especially since his bar area from 30 years ago was missing.

My guess is that by doing the bit of yelling and getting roughed up, he wanted to see if anyone around would hear. It makes for a prime murder place if you know that no one is coming.

- Pretty impressed with Quinn, throwing away that cute girl. But since he was talking to her about Dexter, I'm wondering if she knows that he took the money. This could turn around and bite him, hard.

- I was kind of surprised at first to see Dexter going after the incredibly hot cop. I would think that in some situations, the good kind of outweighed the bad. I always think of Dexter as going after real monsters. And then I saw the picture of her dead daughter, and that was it. Great antagonist, though. Also lol "What is it with you and rape?"

- Lundy and Trinity meeting was pretty interesting.

- So, let's talk about Lundy's death. The fact that it was set up to look like a random robbery makes me think that's exactly what it wasn't. Due to the Reporter's... reporting about the Vacation Murderers, it's pretty well-known that they are around.

Trinity has survived for more than 30 years without being caught because of his ability to change his MO. Yes, he is careful. But a cycle of "girl bleeding out", "woman jumping off a building", "guy bludgeoned" is not exactly the mark of a serial killer. Trinity is able to escape capture because he can adapt. The fact that Lundy caught on - and he knows it - makes me think that he must have changed it up again.

Taviow pointed out that Deb gets shot first, so he doesn't think it was Trinity, since Trinity would have reason to shoot Lundy. But we don't see where the shot comes from, aside from behind Deb. Deb is shot and falls - barely a gut shot, which shouldn't be fatal. Lundy is shot twice and looks dead before he hits the ground. Doesn't exactly seem the trademark of the vacation killers, since they, you know, kill. It seems like it could be Trinity staging it.

The look on Lundy's face, too, before it happens. I don't know. Something doesn't feel right.

- I think you guys are right about Deb taking over the case. Again, talking to Taviow, he mentioned how cool it was for Lundy and Trinity to meet so early on, and I replied that it's kind of moot since Lundy died shortly afterwards. But then realised that he kept a tape recorder description, that I assume will help guide Deb.

I thought that had to do with Trinity trying to punish himself for his part in the mother jumping off the building, similar to the scene where Trinity is crying and showering in scalding hot water after the bathtub murder.

That's an interesting idea, too, Fishbulb.

Two more things on "That scene".

When Deb is shot, and falls, we don't see her purse taken. The Vacation Murderers wouldn't leave it behind and I'm not sure Trinity would be so careless, if he actually was staging it.

And I can't believe it was Anton. We never even see the guy get angry, and Deb did save his life before.

I find it unlikely that Anton shot at them. No, Trinity met his match. Tested him and confirmed it when they came face to face. He got scared. Debra may think that it was Anton because she was probably unaware that Lundy came across Trinity and was suspicious of him. Until she finds the recording, i guess.
It would be a nice twist if Anton ends up being the Vacation Killer but for all we know Trinity could be responsible for those death's too and using those murders to distract the police.

Phenomenal episode, 5/5 etc etc
I think it was clear that Trinity killed Lundy and set it up to look like it was another random armed robbery a la the Vacation Murders. I mean seriously, it's all set up perfectly to put Dexter on Trinity's tail - Lundy's message on Dexter's machine about how he had a strange encounter with who he suspected was Trinity, and Dexter not spending time to listen + protectiveness of Deb + insane lust to murder other serial killers. I wonder if what Trinity took from Lundy's corpse was his little voice recorder? If not that's even more stuff for Dex to chew on.

As for the ****** scene I don't know where I stand. At the time I thought Trinity was trying to get some kind of DNA or blood to frame the dude for his upcoming kill but now I'm evenly split between the self-punishment and testing for noise etc theory.

I'm not really sure about the theory of Trinity testing for noise/interruptions at that bar since he was looking at floor plans for the hotel that used to be a single story tavern, and according to Lundy, his next kill site.

Although I suppose it could be a red herring and he's actually staying at that hotel or something.

I forgot about the crying during the scalding hot shower bit. I suppose that it could be some kind of punishment. The alternative, I suppose, is the scalding hot shower is some sort of cleansing thing. I mean this guy is perfectly meticulous, and it could be some "washing away the sin" kind of thing. I don't know why, but I don't like the notion of punishment as far as this character goes.

And Fishbulb has a point about the hotel, too. ****, I don't know. There's so much going on that we still don't know. I love it.

My take on Trinity, is that he's recreating some events in his life. Im guessing his own mother jumped off a building and the bar thing has something to do with his own father. The bathtub might have been one of his ex-girlfriends or something.

I think you're onto something. He even says "It's your fault", after the guy beats him up. Trinity is clearly mentally as well as emotionally disturbed. Some major mommy issues, me thinks.

I thought of something similar, tho I think it's probably more likely daddy issues. If I had to guess I would say Trinity's dad was very abusive (probably goes without saying). Perhaps even to the point of driving the mother to suicide. Could be he provokes the beating, recreating a childhood memory, a memory maybe where he bludgeoned his dad to death with a hammer for pushing his mother to suicide. Or maybe the dad was the one saying "It's your fault" about the mother's suicide, and blaming Trinity is what made him bludgeon his dad to death. He provokes the beating to psyche himself up to hammer somebody to death to complete a ritual he started to deal with it all.

Still haven't quite worked what the bathtub part of this would be, tho. But I'd lay good money that the straight razor he uses once belonged to his father.

I'd guess Trinity's 3 victims correspond to his mother, father and sister. Maybe something like his dad abused the sister, mum didn't stop it, sister killed herself to escape, then mum killed herself from guilt and finally dad killed by Trinity or a random in his pub.

I'm pretty sure it's him who shot Lundy and Deb (who is awesome- ****ing ****!), Lundy seemed to recognise whoever it was just before he shot. I saw Lundy's death coming a mile off though - easy out for the love triangle, Trinity knew Lundy was onto him. I thought maybe Trinity would bludgeon him though, but perhaps that's too ostentatious and attention grabbing.

God damn. Episode was ****ing great. I have no idea what the **** to expect next.
