That it is, but the writers/creators said that they're going to pursue original plots rather than those of the books'.
While I'm usually against that kind of thing, I'm somewhat fortunate in that I'm not familiar with the original material. If this frees them up to explore the character of Dexter at their own pace instead of waiting for new books to come every time they want to air a new season, I'm for it.

I just finished watching the entire first season. Excellent show though I think it looses some of it's strength towards the end. I'd still recommend sticking with it.

Season 2 is proving to be as strong as season 1, so far. Its good that this season is not based on the book, cause that book is GRUESOME!

Just seen "The Dark Defender". Mighty good stuff. Notice the guy in the poster had the same smile is Dex.

Lets hope the writers strike does not seriously affect this show. *Fingers crossed*

What do you think, will Dexter be caught by the end of the season? I think it will end up forcing Dexter to take the fall for his actions, or act against his code: to kill innocents to save his own hide (to kill Lundy or Doakes).

I think season 2 is better than season 1 so far.

EDIT: I see the upcoming episodes already have summaries on Wikipedia (tried not reading any of them tho), but please don't spoil it for me even though I asked for speculations on the rest of the season

Yeah the season is really kicking into high gear. I haven't read the wiki summaries, but my guess would be,

Dex is going to frame Doakes as the Bay Harbor Butcher.

And there are rumors about a possible season 3 as well.
