(talking about LoD btw)

Yesterday i decided to check back on diablo2, i had 1 IST rune left in my inventory so i decided to trade it for an Org set to do the Ubers. 1 Orgset/3keysets use to cost 1 IST a few months ago (Europe Server). But now everyone just laughed at me, they all demanded 4 ists for it!!! 4 ISTS?!??!?! ARE THEY MAD???? Do they think i can grow ists in my back yard??? I DONT EVEN HAVE A BACKYARD. Things are outragously expensive, its just unbelivable. Its crazy, NUTS, its just so stupid. I know the prices has risen because of the duping going on..but what about us that DOESNT dupe??? How are we suppose to afford things? Its impossible....

I wish i had saved all my org sets till now and sold them for 4 ists. Damn i can never go back to Diablo2 with these prices. I wish blizzard would do more to prevent duping.

Whats going on in the US server? Whats the price over there?

You have to give your soul to Diablo.

I kinda wanna play D2 but I don't..maybe playing D2 without LOD or just going and pwning at D1 again.

Being a nub in Diablo 2 is awesome.

"Here, have this absolutely awesome stuff because I don't have any use for it and none of the UBARS want to give money for it."

lol, Cole, to pwn in Diablo 1, the only thing you've gotta do is go into a server and say "can someone dupe me the best armour?" then use hacks to level yourself to 99, with all your skills at 99999999999.....

Level 50 is the max in Diablo 1. Now if your smart you will just look for the God Hacks and such.

Actually I love memory hacking Diablo. I often put myself at level -128 to confuse people.

However I was talking about playing Legit. Which means no ****ing godly plate of whales. Diablo's very fun when you play it legit.

I cant remember much about Diablo 1, havn't played in a long time.. I was little when I last played it, so playing legit to me sucked.. Now I love playing legit in RPGs.

I don't bring my WoWspeak in here, shoo with your D2 :|

No, Diablo is a hack'n'slash with character development.

P&P RPGs are about choice, consequence and immersion. Diablo has only the last one. Character development doesn't make a game an RPG, otherwise we'd need to call games such as C&C: Renegade RPGs, because look, the main hero can get upgrades to health and armor!

Fallout is an RPG, Diablo is NOT.

Thank you Mikael

Sorry um, what makes Diablo not have "choice" and "consequence" and can you describe to me why other RPGs do?

Just because it's not turn-based doesn't mean it's not an RPG. It's not just a hit one button for 8 hours game, you do have spells and skills, which you CHOOSE, there are plenty of different paths of skills to CHOOSE, weapons to CHOOSE, items to CHOOSE, armor to CHOOSE, and I don't even know what you are talking about with the "consequences" thing, anything where you have choices comes with consequences and I've just proven that it does indeed have choices.

Anyway. My brother has been inviting friends over for D2 lan parties recently, they're playing this one mod, I don't know if it's new or not and I have no idea what it does but I'm inclined to join in.

About the only choice and subsequent consequence you have in Diablo, is to go outside of town, and then get attacked.

Or go with some shitty spells and suck.

So there are choices and consequences. Plus it's won many Best RPG awards...and uhh I'm pretty sure if a game gets an RPG award..it's probably an RPG.

It might be a Hack n Slash RPG but nonetheless, no matter how sad it is... it is an RPG.

Diablo 2 can be classified as a role playing game, but the role you play is very one dimensional, and compared to other roleplaying games that offer more substance... it pales in comparison.

My point.
Yet you have to wonder... the RPG that offers the least substance.. is one of the most played RPG's ever(lets not include WoW, which is also Blizzards lol(Isn't it weird...the only real competition Blizzard seems to have when it comes to online #'s is itself)).

It's not an RPG it's a hack & slash, and it's popular because it appeals to brainless gamers who revel in repetitive gaming.

You people should try real RPGs, then you'd understand the difference.

Did anyone understand that?

Just because it's not a textbook RPG doesn't mean it's not an RPG. I like how you try to act like none of us know what a real one is, and therefor have no idea what we're talking about when we make these valid points in direct response to your arguments.

Your attempt at insulting the player base is funny too, your whole post is very pretentious. I liked the game because it was fun to level up and try different character/weapon combos. I didn't even play online. My brother and his friends are playing it for the same reason. My friends who played it did the same.

It's as if you think that when we call it an RPG you think we mean it's the definition of RPG. "Hack and slash" is hardly a genre, there could be many MANY different game types within that. I'd call it a hack and slash RPG.

I remeber trying to break the Diablo 2 market once.

Never could do so, because it was too much divided.

d2 is getting a bit rediculous...
It's been like this for.. 3 years or so. o_0

The market is easy to figure out/keep up and working up ridiculous amounts of loot just takes time and 'trading skillz' - like, find your first good thing (Say, your Ist rune) than do a good trade and work up from there, continuously expanding your loot via good trades and the occasional find.

I absolutely owned in D2/Lod (I had -everything- :o), I wish I still played. :<

I play ladder and when the drop rates change (I suspect thats whats happening), the prices really fluctuate. Right about now, its outrageous.

Yeah Ive turned one pul rune into a complete smiter and 99% complete hammerdin this round of D2.

I take breaks every so often and start from scratch. Last round, about a year ago, I could afford ANYTHING I wanted. I wish i didnt give my account away... :(

Yeah why the hell didn't you give it away to me.

Bastard.

Good thing I gave you that staff I found, you know, the +5% exp one...

:p

Hehe, I once boguht a bunch of runes online for like 20 bucks. LOL FULL IK AT LEVEL 20!!!

Classification of Diablo 2: SERIOUS ****ING BUSINESS.

Ohhhh right :) that one that you found in that trade box with me? :p

Yeah why the hell didn't you give it away to me.

If that was to me, its because I didnt even know you played D2. If you play, I'll help you out if you need help.

And you gave up?!

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU MAN?

Well, our clan was rather notorious for destroying the markets of player-driven economies. However, Diablo 2 was just too widespread.

And I got bored with it. :p

Like what? Kotor? Kotor sucks. Oblivion sucks. Morrowind was ok. And that's about as far as I've gone with RPGs because, with the exception of Diablo 2, every RPG I've played SUCKED.

So, what are you gonna try to suggest to me? Everquest? World of Warcraft? Just because it's addictive doesn't mean it's good.

I remember back in the day, when a SOJ was actually worth something on Ladder. Then again I haven't played in 2 years so it might be worth something now. One of these days I'll have to get back into it.

On USEast Ladder, an SOJ is worth ~3 HRs.

Anybody else here play on USEast Ladder also?

i started from scratch and found a nagelring and an soj in the same game on act 1 nm with I believe 47% mf on my necro :D

On Europe its worth 3-4 ISTs (about 2 HRs) but that was months ago, i dont know what it is now. Probably 8 ISTs of something crazy like that.

On USEast an Ist is worth 2 HRs to most people.

WHAT!?!??!?! A HR is worth 2 IST on Europe. If you look on a list of the rarity of the runes, the IST is the last rune before the High Runes (therefore it isnt a High Rune) and thats why it takes 2 ISTs to equal any HR (even Zod).

Things are surely different!
