Well, I've somehow lost my Original Diablo 2 CD key again, and I'm sitting here wanting to register it with Blizzard. If anybody has any ideas on where the key is located on the PC so I can extract it, please help. Someone said it was in the D2_Patch.mpq, but I spent 30 minutes looking through it and couldn't see a key that was recognizable.

The other way we could get this resolved is if someone isn't using their Diablo 2 CD key anymore.... :naughty:

I'm having problems registering my keys in blizzard store.

I type the key, I click "add game", it recognizes the game, but when I choose my prefered language and click "add game" again it says my key is invalid.. How can that be?

Other than that sorry, I can't help you pitz, I just thought I should use this thread instead of making my own

Why did you uninstall it in the first place?

I didn't uninstall. I'm just worried that something will happen and I'll have to reinstall windows or something, and I'll lose the installation. Then I could just redownload from the blizzard store and use the key from there and say "YAY DONE"...but without the key, this is impossible.

Well, nm, I just found the case, thank god. It was stacked in my roomates shit...I think she's trying to steal it >_>

I wish Blizzard made it easier to retrieve the key, like every other company does :p

Were you able to submit the key? I'm having trouble with all my blizzard game keys, none of them are being accepted

Yeah, every game key I have submitted has worked.

That's why I always keep an updated txt file of my most important CD Keys on my computer and email accounts.

I also can't seem to find any kind of address so I can email my problem to Blizzard... Always glad to see some good customer service

I meant it at Pitz.
I was suggesting a keygen.

Woa, I actually just bought Diablo Battlechest like 2 days ago. Then they announce Diablo 3, then you got a Diablo 2 problem.. Wierd.

Sorry for not helping, I just thought I'd share that.

What other company makes it easy to get your cd key?
I never even got a cd key with my copy of operation flashpoint and I spent $5 on it at EBGames, found it in a bargain bin. ;(

I decided to play through D2, which I never actually achieved. Registering the games was pretty easy, too. Which surprised me.

Diablo 2 sucks and you should all feel bad for liking it.

I seem to be the only idiot not being able to register my keys. I though they might be...void or something, but this isn't the case as I just installed Diablo 2 and expansion and am playing right right in battlenet. Ah well, too bad I guess

I have a real CDKey....

WHICH IM NOT GIVING TO YOU HA-HA.

I did just get some money...

How much is it? Whats this thread about? Is blizzard offering an online buying option where you can download the game?

EDIT: Nevermind. Buying now.

Be warned that Diablo II might be a game you "had to be there for". It is in no sense a modern action RPG, but it is still hella fun and you will no doubt play all the classes at least to level 30.

Duly noted. Hows the story in it?

Its going to be an hour and a half for it to download, so I wont be playing it tonight.

Story is a back drop to the game itself. You might go through the game three times before slowing down and listening to what everyone has to say. You can skip right through it or you can tie connections between events. Diablo II is quick and visceral, and you will spend a lot of time thinking about skill choices. You may end up in Act II Nightmare and totally suck because you spread your points in too many places. In fact, you probably will, and there's no way to respec. Not to say that the skill tree is complex- it's really simple. But it is a huge determining factor in how well you do.

Hmm. Well, I really have no idea what to expect from the game, and my only experience of it was a demo, and that was years ago. So I really have no idea if its my kind of game at all. The only thing I remember of the demo was getting annoyed at having to pick all this stuff up off the ground. I dont mind making several characters over and over again though, I do that in most RPGs anyways.

I'd say yes, except for the whole "legality" thing. Bnet doesn't like keygens, those assholes.

A LOT of games make it easy to retrieve a key. About 90% of the games I own have the key stored in the registry. This is the first company I've ever dealt with that kept their key encoded in a file ALONE. I searched through the MPQ's, and I couldn't find the key.

I didn't bother reading the rest of the pages but, wouldn't the best place to look is the Registry, I found my company of heroes code in there.

Odds are someone used a keygen and regged your legit keys.

No bnet = fail

These games are so bloody old you can make legit keys by mashing the numpad.

...Not really, Blizzard still has people scanning Bnet for illegitimate keys.

Have the same issue.

Those would be near impossible odds since I can't register ANY of my blizzard games. Not even warcraft III and expansion.

No, Blizzard encodes the key into one of their MPQ files. Not sure which one, and not sure what file IN the MPQ.

After scanning google for like 1 hour straight, nobody had any answers. I'm glad I found the key, though.

I bet D2'll work on my laptop. I could play with you guys.
/looks for d2
ugh.. no where to be found. I'm going to target today, I'll see if they have it for cheap.

Oh sweet, just looked on Blizzard and they have LoD for digital download! :D
But it's $20, hm....
