So heres the deal. I just bought a laptop with these components: AMD64 X2 TK-55 (1,8GHz), 3Gb ddr2 and 7000m Geforce. The OS is Windows Vista Home Premium.

So I'm trying to get Diablo 2 to work but nothing seems to get it working. I can get it to run by selecting that 3d thing but then the performance is pure shit. When I bring on the map the fps drops to a complete lockdown, talking about 1fps max. I tried these glide wrappers to get work with the 3dfx but no luck, won't even boot with those (tried dgvoodoo and that z something glider). Yes, I have tried changing the compatibility mode, doesn't do squat. And I tried that that DirectDraw thingy too but it won't even boot with that. Every time I trie to open it with DirectDraw enabled it will only create a process called game (which eats exactly the same amount of memory every time, around 6mb).

And my drivers are up to date. So anyone got any suggestions?

Up to date drivers might be the issue, tried older drivers?

*edit* I wonder if the Vista drivers are the issue.

I just noticed that when I try to start it in DirectDraw mode letters appear in my upper left corner... They keep changing all the time. Is this normal? :D

No, its the OS. In part XP had that problem too, but the patch cleared that problem up.

However I've tried download the latest DII patch in Vista, and it comes up with an error message stating DII wasn't installed correctly (despite clean installing three times)

Silly Vista, always bustin' our chops on our fun games.
