Diablo 3 on consoles?

Huh.........must admit, never saw that coming.

Especially when they said earlier that they wouldn't make it for consoles. Sell outs.

So? It's not exactly the most complex game, should work okay if they make a few tweaks. I highly, highly doubt Blizzard would gimp the PC version to accommodate consoles, given their zealous fanbase.

And it's not exactly unheard of for Diablo to get a console version.

I mean, I first played the Diablo on the PS1, with my big brother!

Isn't that new tomb raider game is the similar vain of Diablo aswell?

Well, ****. Don't tell me the PC version is going to suffer because of retarded console brothers.

I'm not massive into RPG's and have never played diablo in the past but would rather play it on console really. They are really time hungry games and it will be much more cosy laying back on the sofa.

Never played it.

Would also be nice to play co-op on console too.

Oh noes. Dis meanz it sux straight away zomg!"

Why shouldn't hack and slash work on consoles? I don't see any complexity to dumb down.

But .. but .. Diablo is a PC franchise, it must be too complicated for console users.

*mashes mouse buttons for 100000 hours*

Except the fanbase is zealous enough that Blizzard could literally drop a steaming turd into their open waiting mouths and as long as /dance emotes were present they'd happily chew, swallow and proclaim it delicious.

Cross Platform and a voice chat feature and I will highly consider it.

So it will no longer be click to move? WASD?

Hack and Slash has been on consoles forever...

However that probably says something about the way the control scheme will work on PC. I feel like it won't be click to move/attack/do everything anymore... or at least it will only be an option.

Because it's impossible to have one control scheme on the PC and another on an Xbox amirite? Remember when Red Alert 3 came out on the 360 and the PC version changed the control scheme so you couldn't use the mouse to select units or use the menus?

Console players will probably find it much more difficult to pick up weapons and use the inventory system.

Well I thought that it was supposed to be a cross-platform multiplayer? If you have one side with a varied set of inputs then it might offer an unfair advantage... the same way they can't come close to matching up mouse and keyboard and console controller FPS games. Granted this is a much different scenario, but I assume the gameplay will reflect a significant change for the original '10,000 click' interface to a more button-mashing type thing similar to what World of Warcraft does. It seems like they've shifted the gameplay to be more like that as well. Hack and Slash games like Baldur's Gate and Gauntlet had very simple control schemes. I think that it will be somewhere in between that style and World of Warcraft. Something where primary attacks will be set to various buttons that you can switch, kind of like how you have multiple attacks for 1-9 in WoW. That's just what I think anyways...

Of course if it's not cross-platform play online then it won't matter. It'd be awesome to see the first cross platform multiplayer come from blizzard though.

Garbage.

I don't think you know Blizz fans very well. Or Blizzard.

Well I thought that it was supposed to be a cross-platform multiplayer?
Uhh... based on what?

Man, all these predictions of the control scheme changing are kind of hilarious.

Haha, you can have that one. Sparkle horse was ****ing stupid.

Didn't stop them making a cool million from an afternoon's worth of modeling, though. :|

Probably less than that. They took the rig from Invincible and applied the Algalon skin to it.

Blizzard posted this on the Diablo 3 site.

Open Console Positions
11-15-2010
We’re exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles and are currently looking to fill a few senior console-related positions on the Diablo III team. As we’ve said in the past, with proper care the gameplay could suit the console platform, and we’re interested in seeing what talent out there might be interested in such a project. If you’re passionate about all things Diablo and have the requisite skill and experience, then head over to our jobs site to check out the positions and apply.

Please note that this is not an announcement of a console title. We are first and foremost developing Diablo III for Windows and Mac PCs and don’t intend to allow any possibility of a console interpretation to delay or affect the release of the game.

as long as the PC version doesn't suffer . . .

There were actually two really good Baldur's Gate hack and slash games on Playstation 2 with the subtitle "Dark Alliance". They were a lot of fun to play multiplayer... back when multiplayer meant being in the same room.

Yeah Starcraft 64 was horrible, but this is nothing like that. RTS games were never meant for consoles.

I was just speculating on cross platform play. That's why I said "Of course if it's not cross-platform play online then it won't matter. It'd be awesome to see the first cross platform multiplayer come from blizzard though."
However the control scheme I was talking about was from an old video back when they first announced it showing the Barbarian gameplay. They described it as something more like World of Warcraft's control scheme where, instead of binding one or two skills at a time to the mouse, you'd use the number keys for various skills to make combat more dynamic. The rest was speculation on how they'd achieve something like that on consoles. Also, that video was from at least a year ago and I'm not sure where I originally saw it, but I was interested in that aspect of it.
