Diablo 3 open Beta this weekend

During open beta weekend, Witch Doctor was by far the most overpowered class, GIVEN that you are running each class against each other with say a baseline of 40 flat dps, which was easy to get without even focusing +int or +dam gear. Note: +dam at this level is going to have much more of an effect than +int, but you want to go for both. With Soul Harvest active, the highest Int I was able to get in those three days was around 270. Then all you had to do was cast Haunt once in a room, and just keep walking. It was freaking ridiculous. Even in a full four man run, there was nothing that didn't just dissolve as you approached. Max damage hit was 305 off of a fire bat with rune. Still gonna roll a monk first though.

man diablo used to be dark and scary now it's just like a saturday morning cartoon for kids what are you doing blizzard

Blizz cinematics reached rock bottom a long time ago. Seems they've brought in some heavy mining equipment since.

Not sure what you mean by "Blizz cinematics" but this wasn't done by Blizzard's CGI team, just endorsed by the development team.

semanticstime.net white-knighting ahoy! It's a story clip for a Blizzard game endorsed by Blizzard presumably made with their input.

White Knighting or simple fact checking? I never even made any assertions as to the quality or my opinion of the film in question. Put your dick back in your pants.

I would but it just doesn't fit.

a) You havebeen white-knighting half the thread.
b) The textbook-definition cinematics I've seen are just as dire.

Please forgive my absolutely baseless remark.

I normally like Blizz cinematics (even though they've gotten a little... over-indulgent), but that was a bit crap.

I was actually joking, I thought it was kinda neat :>

Just not my style. Looks like a lot of hard work went into it though, for sure.

Unsurprisingly, I'm sure, I was mostly unimpressed by this. The only moment that was actually cool was the way the final fight ended. "The trap, at last, has sprung..." as Diablo's blood quietly slid down the rock face. I really liked that quite a bit. Everything else was pretty trope-y and poorly executed, including the directing.

Pretty sure this was just made for the reveal website, naysayers. It was a one-off deal that was made when the guy who made Aeon Flux came around to hang out at the one animation studio, that coincidentally Blizzard just happened to be asking about making a Diablo short, he asked them if they had any work, and the studio said, "Well actually yeah, looks like we do."

Anyways, I liked it quite a bit. Revealed the Council to the general public for the first time, set the stage for Imperius to be a dick, firmly planted the idea that if you kill a demon it will eventually be reborn (in the Burning Hells I assume), and tied together the plot points to give a reason why all of this shit has been going down for the last several games. Whoop de doo, obviously its a trap, I can hear you all thinking. Well, yeah, but it's more important to have there be a good reason for fighting angels, who, I gotta note, kinda hate Sanctuary just as much as the demons do. What people should be asking is, why did the Prime Evils want to be killed? How are they trying to manipulate control of Sanctuary in the Great Conflict? Why does Sanctuary even matter to them anymore now that the Worldstone is gone? In my own opinion, I put forward that they are trying to get the returning powers of the Nephalem (clearly returning quicker rather than later, especially in the cases of the primary playable characters) firmly pointed right at High Heavens gate. What better way to weaken their defenses than to first get the manipulatable humans chopping up a few angels for them? They certainly did a good job breaking into Hell twenty years back.

I think about this game too much. Three days to go.

12 hours, 4 minutes, 53 seconds. Client fully downloaded.

I am so freaking pumped for this. Already have a Skype group set-up with 3 other friends who are all ready for the clock to strike 2:00 am (CST) tomorrow morning and we've cleared our morning commitments to play all night.

Edit: Btw, here's a countdown widget: http://pi7.eu/blog/128/Diablo-III-Countdown
