What should I roll? Warrior, sorcerer, or rogue, and why?

Go.

Doesn't matter, you're fresh meat no matter what you choose.

Dablo is amazing man! I've played it for yeeeeeeeears. I still have my characters that I started in 2001.
Rogue, fastest at low levels because you deal ranged damage - easier to avoid getting surrounded. Rouge is extremely versatile too. You get +2 mana AND health every time you level up. Sorcerer only gets +2 mana, and warrior gets +2 health. You can play the rogue like a caster by collecting equipment that just gives you as much mana and magic as possible and then just burn everyone with high level spells, or just stay with a bow and deal physical ranged damage. This is an advantage over both warrior and sorcerer, because

1. later in the game you will face monsters that are 100% immune to all magic.
2. Plus you can't stunlock with magic damage. (unless the target has 0% resistance for the spell that is being used against it - the same also goes for the player)

Stunlock becomes possible when a target's health drops below its current level.

Mage is too weak, get surrounded by 3-4 monsters and they'll stunlock you to death. But on the other hand, this mage in Diablo, it's a ****ING KILLING MACHINE at higher levels. I'm telling you it's nothing like the pansy ass mages in WoW for example. All you need to do is teleport from room to room and clear 50 monsters at a time with either fireball or chain lightning (best and most useful spells in the whole game btw). And you can wear the same armor as a warrior! game balance? Forget it, there's no balance, but it's pure fun.

Warrior is slow too, but you can take a beating... but you'll have a hard time with the casters in the final levels, not to mention the teleporting ones especially if you don't have a fast enough weapon to keep them stunlocked (the weapon should have a "speed" or "haste" magical attribute, both are the same for warrior thanks to the class bonus with weapon speed). Rogue can stunlock them and doesn't even have to do that from melee range thanks to the bow.

The weapon or equipment in itself isn't the reason why you will want to roll a specific class, because there are absolutely no class restrictions for equipment in Diablo at all. But each class has a bonus with certain weapons and skills: for example warrior has fastest block and melee swing, sorcerer has the fastest casting speed and rogue has the fastest speed with a bow - if you can get yourself a bow of swiftness it's like a ****ing MG42! Like I said, there are no restrictions as to what equipment you can use depending on your class, but prerequisites for them are just harder to match. For example, max strength for each class (without bonuses from equipment)

Warrior 250
Rogue 55
Sorcerer 45

For the heaviest armor in the game, full plate mail, you need 90 strength. Therefore a warrior doesn't need any str bonus from items to be able to wear it, but rogue and sorcerer need a lot of bonuses before they can dress up in the best armor in the game. The same idea can be applied to every item in the game.

Roll a rogue.

I was gonna say rogue too, but mostly just because she's hot.

Hah! Thanks Seppo, you are extremely helpful. I was going to roll a warrior, but now I'm going to roll a Rogue. Thanks buddy!

Now, just discuss how awesome this game is.

The only thing i don't like about it is not being able to run. Otherwise, it's ****ing badass

Rogues pwn. I loved dishing out high physical damage while still kicking arse with spells.

Get the unofficial expansion pack. You get to run in town!

I will ALWAYS, ALWAYYSS hate the Butcher. He's a son of a bitch.

I'm a fond fan of the Sorcerer, due to the fact of his magics get extremely powerful later on in the game. With Fireball and Chain Lightning, you can slaughter entire hordes so fast. Rogue is OK for that, but if you're just collecting items to make your magic higher....you're essentially a white Sorcerer.

There really is no wrong class to be, but I'd say if you want a challenge, the Sorcerer is the way to go. I find myself getting more into the game JUST because of the fact it's more difficult to stay alive.

On how awesome this game is....I like D2 better for obvious reasons, but the nastalgia factor is with this one strong. It was one of the first Blizzard games i received. I got the "Game of the Year" box set from Blizzard. Warcraft 2, Starcraft and Diablo for 30 bucks. Bets birthday present EVER.

*EDIT* Pesh, some Bnet action? :3

Well damn, it seems I left my Diablo CDs home when I moved to this new apartment. I knew that I forgot something extremely important.
