No, but seriously.. there's no way STALKER is going to be out this year. The game looks like it needs a crapload of work, IMO.

What?

Both the A.I, gameplay, and graphics looks pretty much done.

I wouldn't mind if they delayed it to work on the models (specifically monster models) and animations. The rest of the game looks fantastic, but those just stick out like a sore thumb to me.

Jesus those screenshots look gorgeous. Anyways I dont see it on any major US sites like gamespot, gamespy or ign so Im guessing its either untrue or hasnt been officially announced.

If you like boring gameplay with a pretty shell, okay.

I know there ARE people who agree with me.. the latest videos of STALKER made it look SOOO unimpressive and boring (from a gameplay perspective, the AI and graphics looked nice.. more specifically, the graphics were gorgeous)
/me once again runs

Bah guess Im wrong.

Yea I agree with shuz, game looks very boring to me. Why are most of the vids just footage of the guy wondering around in the woods? Those are probably the worst trailers for a game Ive seen in a long time, scenes of a guy wondering around in a city/forest looking at dead stuff on the ground isnt exciting.

can anybody here remember the last time a game developing company actually got a game out on the date they said it would be? cause in all honestly, i literally cannot.

STALKER looks like ****ing ass. I've have yet to hear or see anything to prove to me why, exactly, that game will be nothing more than an utter failure.
So, yeah... nothing to worry about...

Well, id did in a way. They just refused to ever release a date. I think that was actually one of the smartest moves made by a game company. Really there's no way to predict release dates for games that are taking 3-6 years to make.

i know, so why bother? especially considering how so many are off by more than an entire year

S.T.A.L.K.E.R is being delayed till Q2/3 2005, due to them being so far behind.

There is no way we are seeing it this year. I would have to agree with craigweb about Q2 or 3 next year. Its looks pretty good IMHO, but I have the feeling when it gets released it will either be brilliant or a complete flop (like Daikatana). I wont be pre-ordering, that for sure. I'll wait and see whats its like first.

Well I'm glad they aren't going to rush it out the door, unfinished. But I agree with InsaneCow, it's going to be one of those games that is incredible, or is going to be in the bargain bin 2 weeks after release...

Stalker looks good, but they pulled coop, so the mp has been slashed major.

Also while the stills look good the animation is bad, not as bad as kreed mind you, but still bad

No..no...no no no no noononononnononoooooo!!! This cannot be!!!! I need a game to play, and somehow dont think Doom 3 will keep me all that occupied!!! I MUST HAVE STALKER... NOW!!!!

/me dies

pulling co-op was a big downfall for these guys. A lot of people were gonna be getting it mainly because of the co-op, judging by their reactions in the stalker forums. I was one of them. I dunno if i'm gonna be buying it anymore now that they slashed it. I was lookin forward to playin thru it with my buddy.

im not looking foward to Doom III at all, I will probably be done with that scriptet game very fast, 20 hours or so, and the mp is weak!!!

I wouldn't mind if it was delayed until spring of next year to just make it even better. I mean we got Half-Life 2 coming up, Doom3, Halo2, GTA, i mean plenty of damn games to hold us off...sony's PSP....big deal about stalker for this year.

Speaking of co-op, I can't wait to try Men of Valor's co-op mode :) I don't know how well co-op mode would work in S.T.A.L.K.E.R., since the character being all alone seems to be part of the setting, it seems like it might wreck the mood, but who knows

it might have been competitive co-op. like how they say the npcs will compete with you to accomplish the objectives first. neways that whole concept kind of turned me off to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. It seemed interesting because of it's graphics and setting but the concept seems like it'll lead to you stuck in the woods for hours on end fighting the same respawning enemies over and over again. Rather like an RPG, which in general I dislike. It also seems like the monsters are pulled right out of an RPG what with their magical mutant powers and so forth. I think it could be a solid game though, if they put enough effort into it.

Oh god, please don't mention Kreed in the same sentence as Stalker. I realize the animation needs some work, but no game of stalkers quality deserves that harsh of insult.

Kreed.....*shivers*... :x

Hehehe. Sorry mate :p

TBH Stalkers being billed more of a morrowind. I'm looking forward to it.

But I think Coop is a major part gone missing.

True games have that lone man walking to hell feeling. But thats kinda the problem, Almost all games have that feel.

What Stalker initally promised was two guys in hell. That would of been cool. Imagine having a two man team, with one guy set up as a sniper drawing off the enemy, while the other guy sneaks into the house and aquires the artifact.

Ah well, guy can dream :(

hmm i wonder if stalker will be any good.. ill see the reviews when it comes out.

Yeah, if GTA series often have their release date in October each year, and they are released in October as well :)

Also agree.

It can look (graphically) like a million bucks...but it looked pretty dull otherwise. Again, looked like one of the new generation games which say, "Look at how pretty I am!" but forget to actually have some substance and brains behind it.

Hope it rocks though as we need some fun new games. But I Just can't dump $50 on looks alone.

i thought it was coming in early 2005 to begin with?
did i miss a memo or something? :|

I think Stalker's gameplay looks awesome. Exploring the ruins of chernobyl, getting upgrades on your weapons and gear and hunting mutated shit, it sounds awesome. I don't know why but it makes me think of Deus Ex

Stalker is probably going to get even more delayed I guess. Stalker is that kind of game.

With a huge world to explore, none-scriptet AI, Nice DX9 graphics +++ they can ALWAYS add extra features.

OH you did NOT just say that! :flame:

Ok.. maybe you did, but Doom 3's multiplayer is a lot like Pandora Tomorrow's in a sense. 4 player action utilizing shadows as cover with all the awesome Doom weapons. I disagree with you highly, and it is anything but "weak" If they added a lot of players to the mp, it would lose that hunt and kill feel and would turn into an all out frag fest. The remake of Edge is worth it alone... Oh, and Stalker doesn't even have a mp, so I don't know what you are complaining about. I'm sure the game will last longer than a lot of people have been saying, simply because of the scare factor involved. Unlike people reviewing the game, who are given a deadline and have to rush through the game, the average gamer will probably progress slow and asess thier surroundings with the flashlight. This will lengthen the game a bit.
