Did Valve buy Day of Defeat like they did CS?

I ask because its on their website as one of their projects.

http://www.valvesoftware.com/projects.htm

This is on the dod website.

© 2003, Valve L.L.C. Day of Defeat, the Day of Defeat logo, Valve, the Valve logo Half-Life and Counter-Strike are trademarks or registered trademarks of Valve, L.L.C.

If so I wonder if there will be a dod2 made on source by valve.

Natural Selection is probably the most innovative HL mod I wonder how long before they acquire them too.

Just like CStrike :)

I believe it's the best thing that could happen to any "amateur" modding teams.

Are they just a publisher? Because valve has it has their own project and a copyright to the logo. Who owns dod then? Thats very confusing.

Yeah I hope NS gets hit with some cash from them soon. Great gameplay but could use a nice graphics upgrade.

Valve now does DoD just like CS, they code the latest patches etc. I'm guessing the DoD team either got some cash and went away with a hefty CV or might have applied for jobs at Valve. I'm not sure though :)

valve hired the guys from dod. I was lucky enough to sneak back to the ATI/HL2 booth at E3 when the show had just closed on the last day, and the DoD guys were there. They said that they actually worked with valve, got paid, and loved it.

IIRC, they announced that on their forums, like the 1.1 patch was gonna get released, then they were gonna start working on DoD for HL2.

Bah, here we see it: Its all a fake!!!!! HL2 doesnt exist...
See:
"Assume the role of light/assault/heavy infantry, sniper or the coming machine-gunner class"
SEE!!!! They are SO poor coders, they havent even got the machingunner in yet, although its already in the game! I mean, how slow can you be that a class just APPEARS instead of being coded in a mod?! The base engine must have been pretty cool though, if the mod is able to anticipate what the devs want, then create the class/models/code without even being asked. The HL2 videos are like 3-4 years old, and probably a scrapped project, I think they are just sitting and watching HL evolve mods from this base engine.

I prefered CS before it got bought up by Valve, But even still I'm glad they bought it, the creators of CS deserved some cash for all their hard work.

So far DoD remains unchanged by the Buy up which is fantastic. Hopefully it stays that way.

Dawdler why didn't you tell us all this before!? Oh my god! All the time I've wasted foaming at the mouth with HL2 in mind!... What am I gonna do?! God help us all! lol :)

Thats why you wont get HL2 since its a fake.

I pray to the Allmighty Computer Goddess Pixel for deliverance of HL2, and she will give it to me wether its a fake or not.

I say and I quote the Oh So Glorious Holy TXT:

Neither is correct, I'm using the 1.8ZhR136 Beta 2 version. Also code named "Underpants".

Do you mean the biozeminades can make themselves look good without being coded to do so? Where did I put my spray paint...

DoD now has Valve's support, but it is the same team working on the patches and such, and I am sure it will be the same team to make DoD2.

I said Valve does DoD now, they code the patches and everything, it just so happens the DoD coders work for Valve. See? you're repeating what I'm saying jeez :dozey:

The day of defeat team has been working closly with valve since beta 1.3

It was only after beta 3 that they started actually going to the building and working there.

Dod2 will be an expansion pack for half life 2 that you buy that the shops. There wont be a free download. I think it will do well as by the time its out next year some time there wont be ww2 games out anymore as the fad will have died completly off as it pretty much has now. All the Traditional ww2 shooter fans will still play it and it will be a very popular alternative to CS2.

pay for it?? Give me a freaking brake....i hate the dod team. First they ruin the game with 1.0 now the only chance they have to make it better (HL2) will cost money.

What was wrong with dod1?

Nothing changed exept some prettyier skins, a few new maps, and a bazoka that you cant rocket arena with anyway which noone uses. Its the same game as beta 3 with a paintjob.

naw man. The gameplay has changed totaly....they messed up on the k98, they messed up even more on the garand. They mest up on hitboxes. But most importantly, they mest up on the gameplay. The gameplay that i played dod for...its now gone. No more team oriented ww2 fun, its stinkin death match now.

The Day of Defeat team is adamant that they didn't change any weapon stats, except for the recoil on the Bar. I think the change was psychological because the Garand has a new sound and it sounds weedier.

I didn't mind the new version, just the Map was a bit off (Just because it shows grenades).
