If I remember correctly, which I believe I do. Did valve previously mention something about fixing/updating the steam friend's list? If so, when?

When people forget about it. So as soon as you stop asking, they'll fix it.

friend list is pointless anyways
Why did steam add it then? Imo if steam is going to add a feature to their software, might as well make it work.

Another "omgzors teh friends listzors !!1!111!!" thread eh ...... the friends list was just annoying anyway, people will use it for the same reason they do X-fire, to ghost -.-

they should integrate that xfire thingy into steam.

Really? People are stupid enough to use Xfire to cheat? Why not just use TS2 or Ventrillo xD

Aye i know, but a lot of people like to use Xfire, it's like, i go in some CSS servers now and they have some form of protection which means, say your chatting to a friend on Xfire who is in your game that you dont want other people to hear, it then makes your screen go black because it "assumes" you are ghosting ... crap imo

Then how would you use xFire in the jillions of other games?

That's nasty :(

They are in the works of completely redoing the Steams Friend List.
HAVE PATIENCE FOR GOD SAKES.

Thank you.

One thing I don't understand about friends list:

If you're playing on a server, and someone Messages you, does it come up ingame (in the chat bar) in a special colour, or does it just work like a normal IM?

I think it makes a sound and if your press escape it shows the message
Gah. VALVe could do so much more.

I didnt actually expect the Friends system to work in-game, I would have just liked it to show which servers my friends are playing in, so I can join them.

I also just got around to installing XFire, and what an excellent piece of software it is. I do hope Yahoo fail miserably in their lawsuit against them, or another company with some muscle helps them out.

*sigh*

It did work, they took it down because it wasn't working all that well. When it comes back up it will mostly likely work 100% of the time, not 25-50% of them time like it used to.

its useless because xfire is a better program

You can't say its useless until its released. Thats like comparing games to stalker.

Exactly. And that's pointless because S.T.A.L.K.E.R. OWNS ALL!

i would rather have valve spend time on games instead of friends list anyways

Very true. If we have things like Xfire there's not much point in friends.

Maybe VALVe knows that and are trying to add something new and ingenious.

Rofl. Good point

I think MS should buy a license to use a 'friends of friends' idea in Messenger.

You are correct, Valve did say that. My understand is that the problem should be fixed in a matter of weeks.
