First, which difficulty are you gonna start HL2 at (I'm going for one above normal).

Second, in HL1, on hard, what was the hardest thing to so (Keepint that scientist alive while he opens that portal to Xen (thanks Barny)).

Cheers.

Im gonan play hl2 on normal. Yeah hl1 on hard was insane

what are you guys talking about hl1 was easy. of coarse there was alot of quick loads and quick saves. even if id pass a spot id go back and do it again if i loss to much health or ammo. it was more time consuming...

i think ill play hl2 on normal

I will probably play on normal, I dunno, depends on how clearly I am thinking when starting the game.

I dont really remember what was the hardest on HL1 in hard, I have played thru it so many times on hard, its casual now. My favorite thing still was the AI for the marines.

I passed half-life 1 on hard many times... and the getting to xen part only took me 30 minutes.

The thing about hard difficulty in HL1 is that every enemy took longer to kill. Especially thee marines who come in wolf packs.

I hate those crazy marines, pumped up on roids and stuff I swear, who can take that many bullets and keep on coming?

Hard, always the hardest skill...
Why would anyone bother playing grandma-friendly easy?

As for the hardest thing in HL1, That jumping to the teleporter part in Xen. I liked Xen, but that bit was annoying

1. easy
2. only beat it once and on easy

will probably try to beat hl2 on hard later on.

Don't people think that finishing it on easy is a bad thing?
Unless your trying to finish the game as soon as possible...
For me at least, I try and make the initial experience last as long as possible...as well as being suitably demanding of skill.
I suppose you can challenge yourself to a touger round the next time you play, but then you know it all...

For HL2...I plan to play realistically:
Hardest Skill
If I die...then I start again

All you 1337 players should do the same :)

It depends how Valve increase the difficulty.

I played Farcry on the hardest setting - but wasn't that impressed. The AI didn't get any better, it was just 'cheaper'.

Assuming this isn't the case with HL2, i'll play on hard :)

I bet on hard difficulty the environment in HL2 will kill you alone...

Apparently the AI on hard is aggressive and nightmarish according to the Valve info thread

Normal

I like to get a feel for the game first before moving on to the harder settings. Save my frustration for after beating the game.

I wanna play it on easy first, cause i wanna have fun with the game. I wanna take my time to enjoy the scenery and not have to worry about a zombie hitting me with a barrel and taking away 70 health, then hard or medium depending on how hard "hard" really is!

normal, i want fun, but i don't want to be massacred

I'm a pro at HL1, so I'll probubly be playing it on Hard. I hope they don't have an "Insane" level...

Why not? The more difficulties the better :D

Whatevers realistic for me - that is i don't want to be able to take to many hits and still be standing, but i hope that when you ramp up the difficulty that it wont just make the combine able to take 10 more bullets to the chest etc.

First, how do you guys know it will be the same difficult-levels? Anyway, I if they were the same as in HL, I would pick Easy the first time, then Easy the second and thirt time, then maybe Normal the forth time, but just maybe!
The hardest thing on Hard was probably the Alien Grunts, man! They survive a direct shoot with the Rocket Launcher right in the face!

normal or hard... then easy and play around, maybe try out some cheats...

Normal for me, i want it to be hard enuff to make it worth playing but not so hard that i cant take the time to think about whats going on.

Argh i cant wait for this game *runs around going mad*

Once when i bought HL back in 1998 i played it on normal, after that i read the manual and saw that difficulty levels only differ in AI-routines, if you switch between normal and hard. So i gave it a try and it really was a blast to play the game at its full potential...so im going to play on hard.

ps. would be kinda cheap if the only thing they do is upping HP/accuracy

I would take my sweet time killing them... :)

Probably normal.

However, if hard did NOT just make me weaker or the enemies more accurate/stronger, but instead just implemented more fun AI, then I'll play hard.

I'll probably try it on hard first and see if it's too hard for me. Hopefully I'll be able to use the environment to my advantage and survive.

Play on Normal

The level Interloper was the hardest I reckon when trying to avoid getting hit by both the vortigaunts and the Xen controllers whilst jumping from platform to platform

Probably easy ( if there is such a setting) to get the feel of the game. I had to play HL1 on easy because I wasn't too familiar with FPS's. HL1 was the first one I ever played. I have a feeling that the gameplay will be a little different so I do want to enjoy the story and scenery while I'm playing then PLay the harder setting from there.

one thing about Far cry is that even on easy, it's realy tough! I don't know How many times on the carrier level (yes the second level) I had to restart from where the chopper come in on top of the boat and then try to take out that lone stationary SMG or something to get through that level. Right now- even easy is difficult for me.

"The difference between the difficulty settings includes not only amount of ammo/health kits, but also the accuracy of the NPCs and their aggressiveness towards you. On the hardest settings, there will not be any enemy NPCs that "ignore" you or wait until you move against them, they will all be aggressive.

Rick"

There's some info about changes in difficulty.

I'll play Hl2 on the Normal difficulty. Hopefully it'll provide a challenge, but not so challenging that the game becomes a choir. I don't want to be up against 3 combine soldiers and feel like i'm taking on a strider.

I'll play on easy. No doubt it will still be too damn hard on Easy, thats the way most games are coming out now :(

I only play for fun, screw all this "skill" crap. Always easy.

I will either start it in easy or normal. If I start it on easy, it will give me an excuse to play the game over in normal, then in hard, then just play over and over after that :p

1. I'll start playing HL2 on a normal mode.
2. HL1 was easy for me on the hard mode.

I like going through games on the easiest settings the first time through because it allows you to experiment without fear. If I went through it on the hardest difficulty the first time through, I have a feeling that I wouldn't spend as much time trying to find clever ways to dispatch enemies through the use of phisics. Instead I'll be tempted to just gun them down the old fashioned way.

I played the original onthe easy setting. I only completed it on hard once, and that was back in September pending the original release date.

make it life. Set it to the hardest skill and iff you die you must break the disk(s) for half-life2
