so every week they've been picking games a reducing them. last week i got Sid Meier's Pirates and Riddick for $5 a pop. really thinking about picking up some more here...also is Assassin's Creed better on PC or the 360 cuz I kinda stopped playing it on my 360 and $5 is nothing

This is win, I just bought a few games. I just wished I knew about this earlier, waiting to see what they come out with when they release thewar games.

It's amazing how many games out there I just don't give a shit about.

(This isn't a comment on Direct2Drive, btw, Steam is the same.)

Too bad I already own all games I find appealing in that list.

I think tomorrow I will get Assassin's Creed and possibly Drakensang.

Those prices are unbelievable. I'll give D2D a try.

anyone know how the DRM is on the d2d service? can I download from one computer and put it on another and do need to be connected to play the games once downloaded?

From what I remember from buying WoW was that they send you the cd-key by mail with receipt. Then they give you a download link from Fileplanet and you download your game like you had a Fileplanet subscription. The speed that I remembered was around 500-700k. *Oh sorry, don't know what I was thinking there. I don't know really but I think so. http://www.direct2drive.com/staticpage.aspx?topic=about That is there FAQ.

I just did it for Riddick overnight. when you click your account you click on download, and then the next window has the key and download link. you can either download from their download manager or they say they prefer Firefox to download as the alternative since it doesn't stop the download after 4GB (IE stops at that file size) and since its a Zip file you can simple get rid of the data after the install i believe.

Holy crap those are sweet deals!! Gotta get a few...can't wait to see what's next!!

their FAQ is poop and doesn't answer any important questions.

I've bought from them before.

Pretty much, you get a limited number of downloads; something like 3 or 4, I believe. Once you've used these up you can send an email and they'll just reset your allotment, it's not too bad. You can't activate the same game on two different computers, which is the problem. It works based on your hardware, so a small hardware change invalidates it and you need to send an email explaining. I've never had problems with them resetting it.

Once you've downloaded(they force you to use the crappy fileplanet downloader) you just have to enter in the cd-key they send you, and activate it via internets. You can play it offline from then on.
